Same thing happened to me. I changed the caliper only to find it happening again a week later. Turned out to be the flex hose on the brake line that connects to the caliper. Once i replaced that is worked perfectly. The hose was about $25 new. Easy to change but make sure you bleed the brake once it's reconnected.

I have to continuously replace calipers on my jeep, what is the problem?


wonder if the rotors are too slim. If this happens the brakes get too hot as the rotor radiates away the heat. If too hot the brakes could wear out faster.

Right rear brakes keeps messing up on a 1998 Chrysler Cirrus, we keep buying new right rear brakes about every two months or less. Can you help us out?


You have to make sure the brake system is operating properly.Change both rear brakes it sounds like the left rear brake side is not working making the right side wear out so quick.After changing the back brakes bleed them making sure you have no air in your brake lines.start bleeding them from the left rear to the right rear to the left front to right front to master cylinder.

6 months ago i replaced brakes on 2006 toyota carolla the driver side brake pads were faulty the toyota dealer said he has to change all pads, why do all the pads need changed?


you need a class in brakes. It's Brakes not bumper chrome.....
first of all ,
you do replace brakes by AXLE.
that is because, they both wear out at the same time!!!
and mixing brands of brakes left and right side (max dangerous, wow!)
and if you replace one bad set, say left. the right will fail soon.
so that means 2 times the costs. and more down time.
and 2 times constant pad checking, (and paranoia added, justified)
all this make senses.?
the rears will last 2 times front, so some folks do replace them only when near low end.

Lock up when?

If you use the parking brake,then the cables
have to be replaced because of rust.

With proper brake maintenance once a year, there is no
reason to say they lock up while driving

I have a strange, intermittent squealing noise coming from the driver's side front. It sounds like it's coming from the tire, and when I put on the brakes it seems to affect it.


That sounds like the wear indicators are causing the squealing. They are a small piece of metal attatched to the brake pad, that when the pads wear down to a certain point, they began to touch the rotor when the brakes are applied and make a squealing noise to let you know you should check/replace your brake pads.

So long as the brake booster is working, test it by turning on the engine, press the brake pedal all the way down, then shut off engine keeping your foot on the brake pedal, if the pedal comes up slightly pushing against your foot then the booster IS working.

Did you BLEED the brakes??????

What is the recommended mileage for brakes to be replaced on a 2005 Escape?


When they wear out. There is no recommended mileage for brake replacement, like there is for timing belts, fluid changes, etc. This is because grandma driving slowly down the street, lightly touching the brakes to slow and stop might go 100k miles before her brakes wear out, and her grandson driving the exact same vehicle and pounding on the brakes to stop quickly for traffic, stop signs, etc. may get 18k miles on his brakes. So, the brakes have to be checked for wear occasionally to determine when brake replacement is needed. You must be careful though, as some repair shops will tell you to replace the brakes when you could drive the car for another year w/out worrying about the brakes. Vehicles are equipped with 'wear indicators.' which will make a lot of noise when the brakes pad linings wear down. The wear indicator makes contact with the brake rotor when this happens. This is the signal that you will soon need to replace the brake pads. You can actually still drive the car safely for some time after this, but the noise is annoying! When you do have the brakes replaced, make sure the shop bleeds the brake lines thoroughly to flush them out, and replace the fluid. This is overlooked by many people, and can lead to problems later (brake fluid absorbs moisture, which will corrode components (calipers, brake cylinders) and cause them to fail. So, if you don't hear anything, don't worry about the brakes. If you are still concerned, have a shop that you trust inspect the pads for wear. If you don't know of a reputable shop, ask friends and family who they would trust. Good luck!

Ok when i am driving my car and when i need to apply the breaks they make a almost squealing noise but after i drive for a little the stop any help will be much appriciated


I have same problem; turns out all Honda Accords of this generation (2003-2007) do this. It has something to do with cold brakes and unseated pads, and the first time you stop from medium speed, you will hear a grinding, maybe from the back of the car (i think in my case).
My girlfriend looks at me, and we both wonder what it is, but it goes away in about 1 minute and I've realized it's only when the brakes are cold and it's not a problem. My brakes are basically ok, and there is nothing to fix...
I've done enough reading about this car on the internet, I feel pretty sure everybody's Accord does this, so I stopped worrying about it. A real problem, the sound would not go away as soon as the brakes warm up and seat the pads. After that, the breaks work fine.
If it was worn pads, the squealers will start up and not go away quickly. If it was a worse problem, the sound would grind continuously until fixed.
The two major problems with Honda Accord brakes are: 1) Brake judder at hi-speed medium braking. If you are going downhill, and just want to slow the car a little, if your rotors are getting worn, the steering wheel will give you feedback as brake judder. Hit the brakes harder, it will go away but it's scary and requires the rotors be replaced with a much higher quality rotor than came from the factory, and probably want to use ceramic pads (like Bendix CQ or CT). 2) Back brake pads wear down quickly. I read about this constantly with Accord owners, the EX back brakes are smaller rotors and pads than the front, but the electronic brake distribution system of the Accord will balance brake force between front and back, so the front pads will actually last longer than the back pads! This is very unusual but entirely normal for this car. Most cars are the opposite but that may change as we see new generations of cars with more evenly balanced braking front to rear. Be ready and watch your back brakes closely. Mine were toast at 30k...
I replaced my back pads and rotors, used cheapest new rotors I could find, and ceramic pads, and they have lasted considerably longer than the first set.
I now have 92k on my 2004 and the original front brakes are ready to be replaced. I replaced back brakes at 34k I think, and was very surprised they needed replacement at early, but the new pads have gone almost 60k, but look ready to be replaced sometime this year I think.
I have bad judder on high speed braking, but the pads are still ok in front. Rotors are **** in front and I'll replace with Centric Cryo-Stop rotors, they should last a long time as long as they get put on straight and I don't let anybody warp them with an air gun at the tire shop...
Two other more minor problems to watch for on this car: 3) Inner pads may wear faster than outer pads, because the caliper is on the inside, and forces the outside pads to contact the rotor after the inner pads are already braking. Seems like all Accords do this at least a little. The inner pads are not easily viewed without removing wheels, so it's hard to tell, but if your outer pads look like they are starting to get worn down pretty well, chances are good the inner pads are even more worn and you are ready to replace pads. 4) Pads may wear faster on one side of the car (fronts) faster than the other side. For example many people report driver side pads wear faster than passenger side. And the reasons proposed have to do with fast stopping for right hand turns or freeway loops. The car spends more time being braked in a right turn than a left over time.. But of course, on my car, it seems to be the opposite. The passenger side is wearing faster! Go figure..

The binding of the brakes is causing the pads to overheat, which is causing the smoke. You need pull the wheel and check things out. Your caliper must be bad (not releasing). You need to replace the caliper, brake pads, and have the rotor cut (a full service parts store or shop cuts the rotor perfectly smooth on both sides), or replaced (it may be cheaper to just buy a new rotor). You should also always change the pads (and check everything else) on the opposite side. So, if u do the brakes on the driver side front, always do the front pass. side at the same time, likewise if u do rear brakes.
Whenever you do brakes u should also flush out the brake lines (by bleeding the brakes) until the brake fluid flows absolutely clear. Old brake fluid is the #1 reason for caliper failure. I've seen many times people replace brake components w/out changing the brake fluid, only to have the brakes wear out very quickly, or not function properly. good luck! hope this helps> please rate this!couontrycurt0

It sounds like the rotor (brake disk) is warped. That would cause the pads to wear much more quickly because the disk "wobbles".
The warped disk can also cause the noise, depending on how bad the warp is.
When most shops change pads, they usually recommend that you "turn" the rotors, it is a way of truing the disk.
