How can I change my 3.0 Liter oil pan gasket

Hi, Im AL the owner of Big As Auto Repair.

I actually own a 1995 Dodge Spirit 3.0 and its not to difficult. The hardest part is removing the bracket on the transmission so you can remove the dust cover for the flywheel. (1) Drain the oil. (2) Remove the transmission bracket and the dust cover. (3) Remover all the pan bolts except one, just loosen this one so you can pry the pan off, because the pan will be stuck on. (4) Clean the engine block and the oil pan very clean. (5) Install the gasket OR sealer which ever it calls for and install the pan and fill with new oil and filter. Hope this helps and please visit my Auto-Repair-Website: http://www.bigasautorepair.com/

Do a mechanic need to raise engine to get to oil pan in my 1985 Dodge 600

  • On a 1995 Dodge 600 no, not at all. You can just raise the front end up, set it on some jack stands and and drop the pan. No prepping has to be done to drop the oil pan.

  • If you have any comments please feel free to leave them here.
  • Hope this helps and thank you for using FixYa.

Remove oil pan on 98 dodge stratus? The mount bar is preventing me from reaching the back two bolts. Is there a special tool or do you have to remove the transmission?

Most cars today you have to raise the engine somewhat to remove the oil pan. To do so you'll need to first support the engine (use a lift if you can) and unbolt the engine mounts. Before lifting look at any wires, hoses or such which could be of issue if the engine were raised. If so remove or move as required. Once this is done you may be able to raise the engine (slightly) to access the bolts and remove the pan.
I hope this mauy have helped,
Tom

Need to change oilpan

first of course drain the oil then proceed to take the bolts that hold the pan out no special order you may need to take aloose the motor mounts in order for the pan to clear the crossmember .if this needs to be done you will have to probably have to raise the engine enough to get the clearance needed. make sure you use a wood or rubber block to support the pulley or what ever your lift point is going to be so as not to damage anything(put the block between the jack used to raised the engine and the engine itself) do not lift by the oil pan or trans pan. hope this helps you please rate me thank you.

Oil Pan Gasket

the oil pump is in the oil pan attached to the block. there for you have to raise the engine so you can see the oil pump and get the gasket under it to get it to slide into place. my suggestion is to raise the engine and replace the gasket
