Question about 2006 Jeep Commander

1 Answer

I have a 2006 Jeep Commander with 91000 miles on it. The cruise is not working properly. It started by accelerating for no reason when I had the cruise set on the highway. It didn't stop accelerating until I hit the brake. Now it will not set at all. When I hit the on/off button for the cruise, the light comes on, but then when I go to set the speed the light goes off and it will not set. Then if I try to turn it on again after that, the light will not even turn on. Any ideas?

2006 jeep commander makes a clicking noise when I turn ignition, all lights and radio come on but car won't turnover, what is it?

I have had this issue 2 times, both times it was the battery having damaged/dead cells. You can sometimes get it to start by putting your foot on the break, turning the key to the on position, putting the car in neutral then starting it. I purchased my Commander new in 2006 and have had to replace the battery 2 times since, both times this was the initial symptom. I have 120K miles and still love my Commander

most likely the oxygen sensors (lambada) ,they need changing ,their are two one before the cat and one after,do not think you need a new cat unless it has a min of 150.000 miles on the clock

The cruise on my 2006 jeep gr. Cherokee started acting up. It was set and then it started accelerating for no reason. I reset it and was fine. It did the same thing later that day but now it cant be set....

The problem is with the PCM (Powertrain Control Module). It made be malfunctioning or may just need to be reset (disconnecting and reconnecting the battery). If it ends up being a bad PCM then bring it to the dealership and the PCM is covered under warranty for 8 years 80,000 miles.

Hope this helps.

Have shop run an OHM test on your transmission sensors -- then have them replaced and rerun the OHM test. -- it's more than likely an input speed sensor that is not working properly and telling the jeep to go into "limp mode" hence your speed isn't changing but it can't read the actual speed.

Most likely due to a problem with the PCM (Powertrain Control Module). You can try disconnecting (for about a minute) and reconnecting your battery2_bing.gif which may reset this system and fix the problem. If not, you can bring your vehicle into the dealer, they will perform a diagnostics test for about $95 that will determine what the problem is. If it ends up being the PCM, it is covered under warranty for 8 years 80,000 miles.

Hope this helps.
