Ok well what you have to do is before you actually take off the distributor you need to make a mark on the crankshaft,{basically on its harmonic balancer} and then also make a white line on the camshaft pulley when the number 1 cylinders piston is at TDC and match it up with the other white line on the crankshaft,After you have done this take off the distributor and then when your finshed with it put it back on, then get yourself a special timing light that you use to shine on the camshaft pulley to make sure the white line meets up perfectly with the other white line on the crankshaft. If it does not line up properly just simply adjust the distributor either left or right, depending where the white line on the camshaft pulley is and continue this until those lines meet up perfectly.

You likely got water into the distributor cap or spark plug wires. Get some wire dryer spray from your local auto parts store and spray the inside of the wires on both ends and remove the distributor cap ( if so equipped) and spray it liberally too. Give everything about 2 minutes to dry, then replace. Do the wires 1 at a time, so you don't change the cylinder order they go to.

Need to replace the Catalytic Converter, however, I don't know where it is located. I have a '99 Suzuki Vitara, with a 4-cyl engine.

It's just forward of your muffler in your exhaust. Looks like a "mini" muffler and has a flange mounted to front side if it.

Can I replace a suzuki vitara 1998 v6 engine with

If everything is the same - yes I would say check with Suzuki dealership. BUT in most cases the service department and the parts department will say no because they have different part #s. But if you have a good parts man he will do his homework to get the sale.

My suzuki vitara has check engine light on and is ok for water and i put oil into it as seemed bit low, but it wont start at all. pls help

Check if there's a spark in the cable going to the distributor. If there's none then you may have a problem in the ignition system components. A defective air flow sensor can also cause a no start. If spark is present, you may want to visit the fuel system of your car.

You can try changing the coil pack and then recheck firing order of the wires to make sure they are in correct firing order. Suggest checking the wires first before spending money on the coil pack. Let me know how you make out.
