You can't fix the cable. You will need to replace the regulator. You already have the door panel off. Now its just a matter or removing the window from the regulator. Then unbolting the regulator from the door panel.

Troubleshooting Electrical Systems When diagnosing a specific problem, organized troubleshooting is a must. The complexity of a modern automotive vehicle demands that you approach any problem in a logical, organized manner. There are certain troubleshooting techniques, however, which are standard:

  • Establish when the problem occurs. Does the problem appear only under certain conditions? Were there any noises, odors or other unusual symptoms? Isolate the problem area. To do this, make some simple tests and observations, then eliminate the systems that are working properly. Check for obvious problems, such as broken wires and loose or dirty connections. Always check the obvious before assuming something complicated is the cause.
  • Test for problems systematically to determine the cause once the problem area is isolated. Are all the components functioning properly? Is there power going to electrical switches and motors. Performing careful, systematic checks will often turn up most causes on the first inspection, without wasting time checking components that have little or no relationship to the problem.
  • Test all repairs after the work is done to make sure that the problem is fixed. Some causes can be traced to more than one component, so a careful verification of repair work is important in order to pick up additional malfunctions that may cause a problem to reappear or a different problem to arise. A blown fuse, for example, is a simple problem that may require more than another fuse to repair. If you don't look for a problem that caused a fuse to blow, a shorted wire (for example) may go undetected.
Experience has shown that most problems tend to be the result of a fairly simple and obvious cause, such as loose or corroded connectors, bad grounds or damaged wire insulation which causes a short. This makes careful visual inspection of components during testing essential to quick and accurate troubleshooting. --- After determining which wire is broken using a test light and logic, then try to rejoin the wire by cuting and rejoining using splicing parts available from Walmart, for instance.

Driver side window on my 2010 Dodge Avenger R/T will roll down but won't roll up

A couple of possibilities: One is a bad switch. The other is that the window regulator has broken. The window regulator is the motorized unit that raises and lowers the power windows in your car. It consists of an electric motor that uses a loop of cable to pull the window up and down the window tracks. These wear out and often the cable loop will break or jamb. Once this happens it will only move the window with the motor's power one way. Up can only pull something with a cable, pushing it doesn't work so it needs the complete loop to do both. Replacing these is common and involves removing the door's interior panel and unbolting the window regulator from the window and the door frame and replacing it was a new one. These units usually can not be fixed and must be replaced. here is one I replaced last year in my GM truck. The old is laid out here in the same position it is in in the door and the new is below it still in the packaging. Tip: If you tackle this yourself make sure you tape the window in position BEFORE unbolting the regulator. If you don't you risk dropping the window into the door and breaking it!

How do I fix a rear passenger side window that is stuck and will not roll back up

There is no simple way, you will have to remove the door panel by taking the screws out of anything that holds it on. The control panel on the door usually has one or two screws depending on the model. The door panel is held on with a few screws and mainly clips that push into holes on the door. Once everything is removed used something flat about an inch or so wide and insert it between the door and panel, carefully move it up and down until you feel a clip then pull the tool towards you to pop the clip out. On the Chevy there may be two screws one on each end, and in the arm rest. Remove these and grab the bottom up the panel and push up, the panel should then be able to move. Check the motor while running and look at the gear which may be stripped. Also check the runners the window goes into since they often contain a felt to keep the window quiet but can come loose and jam the window. My best guess is the motor is weak and needs to be replaced, since going down is easy, but putting the window up requires more torque and worn motors fail. My 94 Camero does this on the drivers side. Goes down easy, coming up it will often stop, I wait a few minutes it will go up a little further, until I finally get it all the way. Hope this helps and if you need more information you can contact me. Just a reminder, you can change the motor yourself, but it requires patience and a little more knowledge than most people have about cars.

Electric car windows will not close properly -every onr of them

POWER WINDOWS NOT WORKING & POWER WINDOW/REGULATOR ISSUES

It can be issue with motor itself. If it's not going up, then how its working down. But still it feels like weak window motor or is issue with power window switch. Get the voltage tested at switch and motor. Also try another working window motor at not working window side.

New power window regulator installed, now window goes up to top then comes back down half way and stops. How to adjust?

It is important to learn how to fix a Honda Accord window if you have an older Honda Accord. Although the Honda Accord is renowned for being a durable vehicle, the electric window motor regulators in older models can wear out over time. This is noticeable when you hear sounds coming from the window when you attempt to use it but the window won't move. But don't worry, you can use these steps to fix a broken window in your Honda Accord.

To fix a Honda Accord window, you will need:
  • A Phillips screwdriver
  • A flathead screwdriver
  • A wrench set
  • A black marker
  • Masking tape
  • A new Honda Accord electric window regulator
  1. Remove the screws securing the door panel from the inside of the vehicle. These screws are beneath the arm rest. Release the door panel by prying it away from the front of the door. Work your way back by prying off the top and sides of the panel and the back of the panel.
  2. Remove the clips holding the door panel using a flathead screwdriver to pinch them together. Remove the panel by sliding it upward and away from the door.
  3. Remove the two bolts securing the window to the regulator. Note the position where the bolts secure the windows. When you re-install the window you will need to adjust them similarly. Making a small mark on the window with a black marker is a good way to easily keep track of the correct position.
  4. Lift the window directly up and remove it from the car door. Secure it using masking tape if you prefer not to remove it completely.
  5. Remove the bolts securing the window motor and guide. Remove the window motor and guide and set them aside.
  6. Remove the regulator from the power window motor assembly. Dispose of the old regulator and install the new unit.
  7. Re-attach the window motor and guide to the door by following the removal instructions in reverse. Test the new window regulator by turning on your ignition switch and moving the window up with the electric switch.
take it back apart somethings not tight

How to relace power window motor

Motor
  1. Raise the window glass to the full-up position if possible. If the glass cannot be raised and is in a partially down or full-down position, it must be supported so that it will not fall into the door well when removing the window motor.
  2. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  3. Remove the door trim panel and watershield.
  4. Detach the window motor harness connector.
WARNING

If the front door power window regulator counterbalance spring must be removed or replaced for any reason, make sure that the front door power window regulator arms are in a fixed position prior to removal to prevent possible injury during c-spring unwind.

  2. Remove the window motor.

To install:

  1. Position the window motor to the power window regulator. Install the three screws snugly but do not tighten all the way.
  2. Attach the window regulator electric drive wires at the connector and cycle the door window glass to make sure the motor gear engages. After the gears are engaged, tighten the three window motor retaining screws to 54-88 inch lbs.(6-10 Nm).
  3. Connect the negative battery cable.
  4. Check the power window for proper operation.

If you can hear the motor turning but window is not moving, then the window most likely came off it's track. You will have to remove screws and pry off the door panel and replace window on track

Driver side window is off track and stuck about 75% closed

If your power window motor is not moving up or down at all inside the door panel, you will need a new motor.
If your window is stuck and will not move, it is the motor - it is bad.
If your window falls down into the door panel, the window is off track.
Replacing a window motor is an easy fix, get another one from an auto parts store and replace it.
Good luck!
