we went out of town and when we returned the car was like it is now. It was fine before we left. Is it possible that someone tried to steal it and locked up the security system.

Repair of this electronic system requires the hook up of a GM special electronic system scanner, until this is done there is no way to know what is causing the problem, u can't guess, only careful testing by the dealer will end in a satisfactory and timely repair.

One of two things will set a no failure ( no failed components the system is fully functional) lock out, one attempted starting without a coded key (attempted theft) the other is a low battery state of charge, have the battery tested to eliminate it as the cause, Kragen Auto, Autozone and others will test the battery fro free, this is VERY important, have the batt tested please, if it checks ok then the security system has a fault and the next step is a trip to the GM dealer service dept., the tools needed to scan the systems electronics is not something u can do at home, have done this kind of work 35 years and know what i am advising is correct.

That symbol means that the car has been locked down by something. More than likely it's the security system.

I have a 03 cadillac cts the other day after work i go get in the car try and start it up the radio part reads anti theft / service theft sytem and does not start and also said remove key... what the

The vehicle is having problems reading the tiny metal security slug in the ignition key. When you used a key to unlock the door, you disabled the security system so it started. There are a variety of different resistance values on the slugs in the key. You can have someone with a ohm meter read the resistance of yours and install a fixed resistor of the same identical value to the wiring for the key security system. You may alternatively spray contact cleaner or a bit of WD-40 in the ignition switch to clean it off. Insert and remove the key several times, wiping it off each time you remove it.

My key is stuck in the ignition of my 2006 cadillac cts

2005 CTS 3.6 Dead battery, key stuck, service anti theft and nothing happens when you turn key, Ttried everything, ECM reset, key memory reset, charged battery to 12.7 volts, locked door w remote and opened w key, anyway you get the idea. After 3 days of online reading and trying, THIS IS WHAT WORKED, 1. put key into on position 2. removed sarter relay from front fuse panel 3. jumped 1st pin closest to fender and passenger seat with pin that is closest to motor and front fender. I used a paper clip and just made contact long enough for car to start. ran car for five minutes and took key out and everything went back to normal. then I took car to advance auto parts to have engine light reset. if car does not go back to normal you have ECM (car computer) failure. video on YouTube under "no crank, no start"

My battery ran down on my 2005 Cadillac CTS because of non-use, sitting in my garage. I charged it up and it tests ok, but the car wont start and the lock out light is on the dash. If the battery is good...

A loss of power triggers the Anti theft feature on you car. In some cases, if you lock the drivers door and unlock it with the key, you can reset or rearm the system.

Another method is to turn the key to the On position and leave it there 10 minutes. After 10 minutes, turn the key to attempt to start the car. If these 2 methods don't work, you may need to tow it to the dealer to have the Security reset.

I have a 2005 Cadillac cts and I bought a new battery and now I have to take the battery off and on to get it started what do need to do its something to do with the alarm or security system the doors lock...

Welcome to FIxYa.com

Sounds like one of the small wires comming from the ignition lock cylinder has broken in 2 and you will need to replace the ignition lock cylinder and keys. If you don't care if the special key starts the car then all you have to do is measure the key resistor and go to radio shack and buy a resistor close to the same reading and cut the wire at the bottom of the steering column and wire the resistor in place. Then the engine will start up

try this
PASSKEY LOCKOUT RESET GM CARS 1999 UP
1) Put the key in the ignition and turn to the "ON" position. Leave it that way for 10 minutes. After 10 minutes turn the key and take it out. Repeat this process (2) more times (3 times, 30 minutes total) This should reset the passlock system to recognize your key.

2004 cts cadillac service security system; key will not come out of ignition and will not go into park How do I reset security system did kra73093 ever get a response?

Has nothing to do with security system. You either have a bad shifter assembly, or a faulty lock cylinder in your ignition switch.
