I have a 2000 mitsubishi galant that continue to blow the engine fuse

The same problem happened to me and tightened the gas cap with some plastic bag. The problem gone and came back after 10 days. I reset the code with a blue tooth dongle with torque android app. This time I re-tightened the gas cap with a plastic bag again by until the cap clicks three times. I passed inspection and did not come back till 170 miles.
I am planning to replace the cap. If the cap is not original the problem may come again ( as per my reading).

My check engine light came on. Just a couple of days ago the digital display said my gas cap need tightening. I twisted it but did not remove it and then put it back on. I was told that if the gas cap...

yes it could ! this is part of the emission system on todays vehicles. if your sure you do not have a hole in a emission hose. just replace cap, the seal may be bad on cap. then drive it. light should go out if this is the only problem. good-day ! check all lines and hoses in system. remove cap completely and replace it. this may fix problem.

Have a check engine Light and the shop says it is gas cap..reset check engine and all was well for about three weeks and back on again. Checked the gas cap and when you tighten the cap it continues to spin...

There is a rubber gasket on your gas cap, normally that is the problem. If it doesn't seal tight enough the tank isn't pressurized and that sets the error codes. You can either replace the gas cap or replace the seal or add another rubber gasket.

On my Lincoln, I was getting that code quite a bit, even after replacing the gas cap, so I added another rubber gasket and haven't had that code again.

I have honda odyssey and the service engin coms on and the cod is p1456 so ineed to figur out thanks.

This probably means:
  • P1456: Evaporative Emission Control System Leak Detected (Fuel Tank System)
  • Usually this is because your gas cap was not fully tightened. Be sure to turn it until you hear a click.
  • After you tighten the cap, it might take a couple days of driving before the light goes-out.
  • Be careful to tighten your gas cap regularly, because otherwise it puts a heavy strain on your emission system.

2006 after putting gas in my the check engine light came on,had oil changed one week ago first time this has happen .while driving the car its jerking and shaking also doing this sitting. please help.

You could have picked up some bad gas, but it's more likely that your gas cap is not sealed all the way - a common problem. Tighten the cap - if it's the problem the car will start running smoothly almost immediately and the check engine light will reset itself in a day or two.

Check engine light came on. Code P1456.

Did you change the gas cap with a Honda gas cap? Tighten it at least three clicks?
Also, Honda recommends that you never top off the tank when getting gas (only go to the click-off of the pump; otherwise you can get back flow into the system that will cause the code).
Tightening or replacing the cap will not immediately cause the light to go off; it can take up to three days of driving for the light to reset.
To check if your readiness codes (emission system) are set, turn the ignition to ON (II), without starting the engine. The Malfunction Indicator Lamp will come on for 20 seconds. If it then goes off, the readiness codes are set. If it blinks 5 times, the readiness codes are not set.
You can, of course, try resetting your engine light to see if it will come back on (which it probably will). I believe the procedure is:
Turn off the engine.
Press and hold the Select/Reset knob (odometer) in the instrument panel, then turn the ignition switch to ON (II).
Hold the knob for approximately ten seconds until the indicator resets.

Hope this helps you.

Enigne light is on a few days ago i had the message check gas cap and now the light for engine is lit and gas cap has been tightened. Does it need to be reset? Or take to someone help.

It does need reset. Try a local AutoZone or parts store that does free check engine lights. Any repair shop will charge diagnosis.

Engine light came on, gas cap was loose

Probably nothing wrong if the gas cap was loose. Sometimes it takes an odd combination of driving modes to reset the monitor. Toyota seems to have an especially fussy drive cycle for the evap system which includes the gas cap. Just keep driving it, it should go out soon.

Engine Light/tighten fuel cap

Good Day,

Sounds like your fuel cap needs to be replaced, there is a rubber seal in there to which keeps fuel pressure up, when this seal goes bad you get a drop in pressure and your engine light will come on. Replace the cap with a new one. As far as your lighter ports that is probably due to a blown fuse and unrelated to the fuel cap issue.

Hope this helps
