That's what it sounds like to me.

If the blower is making noise than the only thing you can do is replace it.

Blower resistors typically operate by dropping voltage through a set of resistors. The lower the speed the more resistance is needed. High speed requires no resistance and usually bypasses the resistor assembly.

Blower fan squeels when blower is on and fan only works when on high. How do you lube it? 1993 Cherokee Sport 4X4

You cannot lube the motor as it is sealed for life. The reason it only works on high is either that the motor is defective or the blower motor resistor pack is defective. As the motor is squealing, which is an indication that the bearings are failing, I would recommend you replace the blower motor and see if it still only runs on high. If so, then replace the resistor pack.

I have only high speed on my ac/heat switch. have replace acdelco blower motor resistor 2 times already. works for a while and quits. whatelse do I need to check etc?.

If you have replaced the blower motor resistor block twice all ready, i would be replacing the blower motor itself. When the blower motor is drawing too much current it burns out resistors for lower fan speeds in resistor block, but doesnt blow fuse for fan. Also check for leaves and stuff in fan when removing fan.

The blower fan for the ac and heat is only blowing on the high setting. been told is a resistor possibly

Yes, if the resistor fails, the only setting that will work is the "high" setting, because that is the only setting that does not go through the resistor.

Your blower speed resistor has gone bad and needs to be replaced. You can pick one up at Auto Zone or Parts Source with the step by step instructions to getting the resistor replaced with common tools.

It is located under the glove box, way in the back of the passenger foot area. You'll need to remove 2 screws with a 7mm socket, and remove the plastic cover that covers the blower motor and another component box that I think controls the passenger airbag. After removing the plastic cover you'll need to side that passenger airbag module to the right so it pop off its mounting bracket and move it out of the way. That will give a better view of the blower motor. I highly recommend you also remove the blower motor itself because the Blower Motor Resistor is located behind it. I think you'll need a 5mm or 5.5mm socket to remove the 3 screws that hold in place the blower motor and 2 more screws for the Blower Motor Resistor... It's a cramped location to work in but if you have all the tools and enough lighting then it shouldn't take more than 30-60 minutes to do. The Blower Motor Resistor costs about $19-$25. Good luck

My defrost fan does not work, how can I find the problem? I traced electric into the control panel. It started with only 1 speed (high) and I replaced a resistor bank and it made no difference. Now there...

dodge systems put power to the blower motor first then ground out through the resistor and switch position.if the resistor block had metal windings in it you may have to replave it again with the blower motor, the resistor has a fusible link built into it and blows when the blower motor draws too many amps, with ign on check for 12v at green wire to blower ,then check to see if voltage on black wire out of motor this confirms nfg motor

F150 2004 blower working only on high position.

this is because your blower motor resisters are burned out for speeds 1,2 & 3. High speed does not have a resister.

Replace the resister. If it goes a 2nd time, it is because your blower motor is failing & drawing too much current.

it is behind the glove box I think. It is in the plenum case where air blowing on it keeps it cool.

Easy repair. May need to access throught glove box which should open all the way down when you squeeze the sides in.

Go to tascafordparts.com for a discounted resister.
Please rate as solved problem if this is what you needed.

Blower Motor Resistor Coils 9ba1105.gif Blower Motor Thermal Limiter 47afe58.gif The heater blower motor switch resistor has the following features:
  • The assembly is located on the passenger side of the plenum assembly behind the glove compartment (06010).
  • Three resistance elements are mounted on the resistor board to provide four A/C blower motor speeds.
  • Depending on the heater blower motor switch position, series resistance is added or bypassed in the A/C blower motor circuit to decrease or increase A/C blower motor speed.
  • An overheating protective device (thermal limiter) will open the resistor coil circuit when the temperature reaches 121°C (250°F), interrupting the blower motor operation in all speeds except HI.
  • The thermal limiter cannot be reset and is not serviceable.
