IF self leveling (gas struts) are faulty, when you come to a stop after driving for about 10 mins, the rear will not have risen to level.(still low).then they will need replacements fitted, they are not that expensive, compared to some air suspension types.(just in case im not clear, the rear pumps itself up AFTER moving off/driving and will settle when stopped for awhile after.)

1995 volvo 960 left front wheel does not respond to steering!when i steer for example to the left the left wheel will not return when i steer back to align the wheels

Most likely solution to this problem is a binding ball-joint or broken/severely worn tie-rod.If the other wheel is turning back to the original state then the pump is working correctly.

#6 is the ball joint. The tie rod is a long piece attached just above the ball joint should be encased in a rubber boot.
If the pump is working then I would suspect one of these parts is binding up. It cant be the power-steering rack because the other wheel is moving in back and forth just fine.

Hope this helps.

I have a 1995 volvo 960, my abs light came on a few days after i had tires put on

Without looking into it too far I would say that one or more of your wheel speed sensors was damaged in the process of changing the tires. That is the most common reason for the abs light to come on. In order to properly diagnose this issue the car will need to be connected to an OBD reader so that you can get the error code from the car.

Volvo 960 estate blowing oil from the oil filler cap Whats causing it?

Your PCV / Oil trap is likely clogged. I have had some luck running Mobile 1 Synthetic oil and half a can of seafoam in the engine oil to clean things up but it is likely that you will have to replace the pcv system.

Replacing an the engine in 1993 Volvo 960

It's an inline-6, not V-6.
I'd think you could just drop in a 95' i-6 and use the 95' ecu.

Though, I was unaware that there are any changes.. it should have 60-2 on both, as well as camsynch.

Volvo 960 24v 3ltr auto estate

I have had the same symptom on my 1994' 960 (sedan).

I thought (told by the dealer) the shocks had worn out (although the car was only 110000 km !...), so I had the dealer change them (they had a promotion). It did not change much of anything, except it lifts a little bit more (about 1 cm more), but still "sags" after about 1/2 hour.
It takes about 1 km driving to pump back up.

I have never been observing that symptom on nivomat-equipped 940 wagons with solid rear axles, and knowing that 960 sedans (with multilink rear suspension) having nivomat wider (3.5") than rear solid axle wagons (940 and early 960) which are 2.5".

So, my interpretation is those wider ones support a great deal of the weight, even more that of 940 wagons, so they react differently by sagging more, due to internal micro-leaks.
Also, and consistently, springs with nivomats are thinner and they may also wear out faster than on standard supension, putting even more load on nivomats to compensate.

Therefore my conclusion was :
- It is not because of the shocks,
- It may be the springs
- It is not really a problem, is it ?
