Question about 1999 Isuzu Trooper

My 98 , 3.1 td swb citation discharges the batteries over night when recharged or jump started 4 lights and the 4wheel drive indicator remai lit the blower does not work , when driven the lights except the hand bake light go out , but come back on as soon as you turn the blower on , any ideas ? thanks for taaking the time to read this

Sounds like the wiring is messed up somehow. The relay contacts may be stuck in one of the systems causing a drain on the battery.

I do not understand everything you said, in your post, but it may need professional diagnosis at an auto electric shop in your area.

Jump Start of Vehicle Battery


IF THE BATTERY YOU ARE USING TO JUMP-START THE VEHICLE HAS RECENTLY BEEN CHARGED IT MAY STILL BE GASSING, COVER THE VENT PLUGS OR COVERS WITH A DAMP CLOTH TO REDUCE THE RISK OF EXPLOSION SHOULD ARCING OCCUR WHEN CONNECTING THE JUMP LEADS.

Turn off all electrical ancillary circuits such as radio, lights, indicators etc. If the reason for a flat battery is unknown the condition may be as a result of an electrical short circuit, so care must be taken during the Jump-start process and subsequent to connection to ascertain if this is the case. A short circuit or un-isolated ancillary load can cause arcing when the jump leads are connected, a small 'crackle' is normal but any spark or flash is an indication of a problem that should be rectified before attempting to Jump-Start the vehicle.

Jaguar do not recommended that the vehicle is jump started, and If at all possible it is preferable to replace the flat battery with a suitable fully charged unit rather than jump-start the car. However if it is done it should be carried out by suitably qualified personel. Garage services and services like AA and RAC homestart should be used whenever possible.

Obviously there are occasions when carrying out this proceedure yourself is the only practical way proceed.

If there is no option but to jump-start the discharged battery should be removed and recharged immediately after jump starting to avoid permanent damage.

High quality, heavy duty Jump leads must be used as the current consumption during starting is very high, and a voltage loss will be
exhibited though the jump leads, increasing current requirement.

Make sure that the Jump Start battery is of the same voltage as the vehicle, and suitable to provide the required starting current.

MAKE SURE THAT THE ENDS OF THE JUMP LEADS DO NOT TOUCH EACH OTHER OR GROUND AGAINST THE VEHICLE BODY AT ANY TIME WHILE THE LEADS ARE ATTACHED TO THE BATTERY. ARCING AND VERY RAPID DISCHARGE CAN CAUSE THE BATTERY TO EXPLODE.

Connect the jump leads in the following sequence.
Connect Positive Jump Lead to Jump Start battery positive terminal.
Connect Positive Jump Lead to Vehicle battery positive terminal.
Connect Negative Jump Lead to Jump Start battery negative terminal.
Connect Negative Jump Lead to a suitable vehicle ground point at least, 300 mm (12 in) from the battery terminal e.g. engine lifting bracket, do not do not connect directly to the vehicle battery terminal.

Start the vehicle and rev to 2000 rpm, then allow tickover for 5-10 minutes.

Do not attempt continued repeated starting of the vehicle, this will cause heat build up at the terminals and though the jump leads degrading the leads performance and adding to voltage loss.

Allow 3-4 minutes recovery time for the leads and Jump Start battery between attempts to start.

Before disconnecting the jump leads, switch on the heated rear screen, to reduce the alternator voltage peak when the leads are removed, as this can damage electronic equipment.

Disconnect the jump leads in the reverse order to the connecting sequence taking great care not to short the ends of the leads.

Do not rely on the alternator to restore a discharged battery.
Ensure that the battery is recharged or replaced with a fully recharged unit
as soon as possible.

Following Jump-starting of a compleately discharged battery, you may need to carry out a Green ECM drive Cycle, this will allow the powertrain control module to 're-learn' idle values, and most likely need to re-enter your radio code, details of these can be found at. http://www.bluejag.co.uk

1995 blazer 4wheel drive not always working


on the transfer case area there should be a relay to tell it to go in to 4x4. now once you put a blazer in 4x4 and no longer need the 4x4 En-gauged you will need to put the blazer in revers and back up 10 to 15 feet to get it out of 4x4 before driving.

98 dodge caravan. left lights on one night last week and had to jump in morning. today battery light came on once and went right back off but i have noticed van taking a little longer to start


Your battery tried to get back to 12+ volts the night the lights were left on, and that is very hard and often fatal to a conventional battery-the fact that you got it started with a jump and it started later (even though it took longer to start) is a good thing-but your alternator will not properly 'charge' your battery, it should be put on a slow charger ( amp) to properly bring it up to what it is capable of-a deep cycle battery can be fully discharged hundreds of times without major damage, but a conventional battery can only go through this a few times. Charge it up, then if you still have problems up, get the battery load tested (this sees how fast it can recover from a measured load, good for determining how good the battery is). Remember too, kyour alternator is sensitive to how hard it has to work to get the battery up to level-so a deficient battery could cause more expensive problems unless you take care now.

Battery seems to be charged, it will crank 90% of the time but once in a while i have to jump it off. this started when i left the dome light and rear inside light on all night and the battery lost charge.


Maintenance-free batteries really don't tolerate complete discharge very well. If the battery was already several years old, letting it go dead probably was the last straw, so now it may not hold a charge more than a day or two, or it may have so little capacity that if you start the car a couple of times without a long (20 min+) drive between starts to recharge the battery, it won't be able to start the car the next time without a jump. Probably time to go battery shopping.
You didn't mention your model, but many BMWs use unusual battery sizes (group #s). Most of us use a smaller, common size battery, or a larger (longer) battery because original sized batteries are hard to find at the retailers, and when you find one, it may not be very fresh. If your battery will only last six or seven years at best, you don't want to buy one that is already a year old, and has been sitting on the shelf partially charged for that year.

not a battery problem if you could still drive it with lights off,but you do have a loose connection some where,can't tell you why your battery went dead 2 nights ago

Rough idle / what is correct idle 25 td. swb pajero


I have a 98 Montero Sport and to adjust the idle all I needed was a phillips screw driver. Check owners manuel for Idle speed and remember to have lights off when adjusting. Also it showed the idle range posted on the hood underneath.

DISCHARGE WARNING LIGHT ON


It might leave you stranded. Because without the alternator. which I think is your problem your battery will run down in a very short time. Even if you had a new battery.Check the belt first as Toyota Ed suggested. If it's good, and not broken. Replace the alternator and if you have to, the battery also. One could affect the other.
