The number plate light works on the same circuit.Did you check this as well?
If this does not solve the problem you will need to trace the wiring for the taillights as it is shorting out against the bodywork somewhere. Start at the taillighht connector and work you way forward. Lots of patience will be required for this job.

I have no tail lights when i turn on my head lights

check your tail light fuse, or blown bulbs. Just do a small test before you strip. Put someone in car turn ignition on and just apply brakes, if the brake lights come on means you have tail lights bulbs blown . If you have no lights at all go again for bulbs or fuse.

Fuse to tail lights keeps blowing as soon as I turn lights on can't find problem can you offer any assistance on this ? It's a 96 hilux

you need to remove all tail lights and front marker (not turn signal) lights. with all lights out of the system the fuse should not blow. If it does you have a short to ground in the light circut. If this is the problem a good multi meter would show which line is shorted to ground by checking for continuity between the center (power) terminal of each light and the ground. If this has a positive continuity test with all lamps removed and power off then that is the wire that has shorted out. If the fuse does not blow with all lamps removed then re insert them one at a time turn on the lights and see if the fuse blows. If one lamp blows the fuse then most likely there is a problem with the socket that holds that light

Tail light fuse keeps blowing on my 1995 geo prism

Took it to the shop. The side marker lights were missing on my son's car. The wiring loops from the side marker lights to the tail lights. As the wires were touching in the front, they shorted out the tail lights. Capped the wires, problem solved!
PS: ordered side marker lights, too.
