Question about 2005 Ford Taurus

1 Answer

Yesterday while at work, I started my car to leave for lunch, and I noticed a small amount of smoke. Then on my cars digital display screen that shares my cars mileage with me, was now reading "Check Charging System". I exited the vehicle while it was still running, and I lifted the hood. When I opened the hood there was not anymore smoke or anything else. So, I returned to the drivers seat and put the car in reverse. While backing out of the parking space , my cars power steering disapeared, and then the digital display screen changed from check charging system to reading, "Check thermostat". As I looked at the temperature gauge, I noticed it was on H. I immediately turned the car off. Can someone please tell me what may be wrong with my car? Is the computer stystem on my car fried, or is it something less severe?

My 2002 pt cruiser only smokes when I sart it, and then it dissipates. can you tell me what is causing this?

Smoking at startup can be one of two things....water or oil.
Moisture buildup in the muffler will show up as white smoke on startup, usually more noticeable on cooler mornings than on warm days. Blue smoke on startup is usually caused by small amounts of oil that leak past the valve seals as they get older, worn, and dry out. This is not usually a major issue unless and until it gets to the point of causing oil-fouling of the spark plug(s). Then you must either repair the problem or be prepared to clean your spark plug(s) periodically if the engine starts to display a noticeable misfiring.

I have a 2002 ford explorer sport trac. My truck ran fine yesterday but this morning I went to start it & it started ran for about 5 seconds then died I did this 4 or 5 times then my son noticed some...

Check your fuel pressure, there are Relays to check. Sometimes the pump is so weak that it delivers enough to start the engine and can not keep up. It is also built to shut down the fuel if the engine dies.

When you turn the key, you should hear the fuel pump run. As for the smoke, with the automatic shut-offs occurring, there is moisture and incomplete combustion gases leaving the tailpipe.

u have a serious engine problem....when the check engine light it flashing that means the engine has a misfire in the igintion system....u need to bring this to a service garage asap or major engine damage will occur.... but if u have smoke from the exhaust damage may have all ready happened...also that misfire can also melt down the catalytic converter in the exhaust system......

2005 Silverado: engine smokes on initial start...

when you turn off the engine a small amount of oil gets sucked down the valve guides and up past the rings, hence the smoke when starting,if really bad then you will need to get a rebuild,or if like me, you are a cheapskate, try using a thicker oil(20/50)works for awhile........

2003 f250 won't start

Is this a small amount of white smoke or a lot of white smoke? If it is a lot of white smoke it could be a head gasket problem.

1. Do you have coolant in oil or vice versa?
2. Pull spark plugs and inspect for plugs wet with coolant.
3. Do a compression test and check for a low cylinder.

If you have issues in any of these points you will need to replace the head gaskets.
