Question about 1998 Ford Taurus

1 Answer

I have 1998 Ford Taurus and It has been blowing a 40 ams fuse from the cooling system. I have not been using the AC due to I have been changing must of the parts of the AC ( evapotator, heater core, etc). \r\nSomeone told me that could be the clutch of the compressor. Is it possible? or Could be the radiator fan?

COMPRESSOR CLUTCH WILL NOT TAKE OUT THE FUSE BUT THE COOLING FAN WILL CHECK AND SEE IF IT TURN OK IF SO YOU CAN JUMPER IT AND SEE IF IT RUNS OK

2007 ford freestar will fuse # 40 in the underhood fuse panel when the key is turned to the run/start position. It would blow before when it was running and cause vehicle not to shift. Had the transmission...

Any applicable trouble codes? Several systems get voltage off that same fuse. oxygen sensors-- canister purge solenoid--ac compressor relay--imrc, intake manifold runner control, has to do with induction-- breathing. And tranny control.
If it blows as soon as the key is turned on, maybe you can narrow it down by unplugging each system one at a time? That may not be conclusive, any system you unplug, there will be less amp draw on the fuse. Just a thought.

Hot air blows when system turned to heat, when control is moved to Defraost or combination heat/defrost air temp cools down, what could cause this?

Make sure you have the heat selection set all the way to heat. In Ford and Dodge vehicles, when you select Defrost the AC compressor actually kicks in and if you have the temperature selection set to the cool side it will push cold air to defrost your windshield.

When you turn heater on it only blows cool air.

Turn the AC/heater dial to the right ... not left...
(clockwise, not counter-clockwise)
Turn temerature knob to the RED marking..
You should hear a clicking noise ... then HOT air...

Also: The heater core may be clogged.... Use radiator flush to clean out cooling system.

Ford Taurus Heater won't switch over to AC

I guess first thing to find out is why compressor is not coming on, as without that running you won't get any cool air. May just need a recharge, but I would have that checked out first. If system is low on freon, it won't engage, and if it is low, why, as in where is leak & how much to fix it, would be my first concern.

Ford taurus ac stuck in defrost

Check under the hood for a vacuum leak near the firewall on the passenger side of the car. The blender door is vacuum operated and a leak would prevent the door from changing which vents the air blows. Hope this answers your problem. All the best!

Can't change air flow direction on ac/heater control. Only blows up to windshield.

It will be a cable that will be disconnected. or broken. Youll have to take some of the dash apart to see the cable and follow it to the switch. Dont be affraid to take some things apart and when you cant see, use a mirror to help you see behind the dash. work the control and watch the action. You will fix this dont get frustrated. good luck

Heater blows cold air ac blows warm air

Your problem is the air temp control blend door actuator is defective and not controlling temp u set. to change/access this part the dash assembly must be removed from the car.
