This sounds like your electronic fuel pump is bad.Check fuel pressure by purchasing a inexpensive kit around 10 to 15 dollars. Disconnect fuel line by the fuel rail. Install your tester. It should read around 30 psi. Also check filter element.

Hi there,
I have a Mazda 6 which recently had black smoke / soot coming from the exhaust. On inspection, the inlet manifold was stuck open. I have just had the garage replace the control solenoid for the inlet manifold and so far the car is running ok.

Drilled hole in intake manifold at upper radiator outlet

Did the bolt break off flush with the top of the hole? or if you remove the cover is some bolt sticking up? if there is try and use vice grips to get ahold if the bolts if it is flush then drill the bolt out and re-tap the hole. Way cheaper and likely less work too...
