2003 sorento. after driving 55-65 mph just fine for ten min Veh. will loose power, and will try to die unless the gas pedal is eased back a little, maybe down to 45 mph. before long it's down to about 30 mph. If the key is then turned off for ten min the eng can be restarted then and driven 55-65 for another ten min or so and it will loose power again.. fuel filter has been cleaned and fuel pressure ck'd fine, but charcoal from canister found in evap hose. no ck eng light

    thank you for your responce:

when this problem comes on it progressively gets worse, if I pull off the road and put it park, then

give gas trying to see if i can rev it up, it still tries to die. If I shut it off and wait ten min, I can restart

and it will drive great 3 to 10 min. does that still sound like transmission, if so ill change the fluid

    and filter.

As much as your going to hate hearing this, I have to lean toward the transmission. Pressure build up in the transmission causing the torque converter to work harder and causing your problem. If you haven't changed your filter and fluid in over 50,000 miles I would have the transmission checked. You also want to have the PVC valve on the Valve cover checked as well. If that has oil build up it will restrict vacuum, sometimes this takes some driving time. Check this first as it is a $10 fix. It is certainly possible to have the vacuum test good even if there were a problem wince it wouldn't show bad unless you had the same conditions that exist when the vehicle is moving and your problem presents. The same goes for the fuel pump and return fuel lines that go to your canister collector. Charcoal in the vacuum line is an over pressure indicator. A lot of these test can only be done if you re-create the problem. Fuel pressure no problem as they have testers that can be attached to the system to test fuel pressure through out a test drive. Vacuum is a little different. Also, and I know I'm adding a lot of possibles and apologize for that, it could be a faulty MAP sensor. Again, this resets when the engine isn't running so it would only present when the problem was occurring. This would be an indicator of a sludge problem in the engine as that will gum up the MAP sensor.

Kia Sorento

It could be a corroded ground cable. follow the neg cable from the battery and see where it bolts to on the body remove the cable and clean and sand the area reattach the cable and spray some battery terminal protector on it. I've seen this a lot on older sorentos

1993 lumina 3.1 dies going down the road, but starts again

Did you check the pressure with the vacuum hose to the regulator (if applicable) disconnected? Try driving the veh with the press gauge taped to the windshield. Got to replace the gas filter every three years or 30,000 miles or they clog up. The fuel pump armature may be worn and binding up. (new pump) It may just work okey but no volume. Now we go to the TPS. Throttle Position Sensor. Need a digital volt meter or scope to look at it. Worn or out of adjustment. Don't have the car here so it's not easy assume anything. You need too know the systems on a brand of veh and follow a flow chart of likely causes you develop over the years and keep notes for the next vehicle challange.
