Question about Nissan Pathfinder

1 Answer

Is there a certain way to install the tps sensor on a 1987 nissan pathfinder. do you need to clear the codes before or after install.

Should be no code clearing on any TPS install I am aware of.
In a couple days,on this site, I may learn otherwise.
The code issue, is only when a sensor goes out of range, and that doesn't mean they are bad or get replaced.

DTC P0300 indicates random multiple misfires were detected. You have replaced a lot of parts but probable causes include:
1. Fuel contamination (not mentioned above)
2. Ignition module (included above?)
3. Fuel system

Crank sensor problem

If you replaced the sensor, did you clear the code as well? Are you sure your not viewing the history codes? The sensor also need a certain gap to the crankshaft to pickup the magnetic signal, is it set correctly if there is an adjustment to your application? Then check the wire harness and any connectors inline with that untill it feeds back into the main engine harness, you may have a break somewhere or a loose connector and when warms the trouble spot may slighty separate and casue your issue.

2002 nissan pathfinder hesitates on exceleration. have replaced o2 sensors on both sides , plug , ect. replaced timing sensor. what else could i check?

It sounds like you have a faulty TPS (throttle position sensor) sensor, it is an easy fix, and you can get the part from any auto parts store. The TPS sensor is located on the throttle body, and it is held in place with 2 screws and has 1 plug to it. Before you change it, make sure that it is plugged in. Mine did the same thing and somehow the TPS had came unplugged, so I plugged it back in and the issue went away.

I was told I need to replace my TPS in my 204 pathfinder. Is this a common problem in this model and make of Nissans? Could there be another issue that would make the mechanic think that this is the...

TPS Sensors issues, are common on all vehicles.
Yes, you could misdiagnose anything, on todays high tech vehicles,if you don't know the components, how they work and how they function in a system. If the sensor wasn't tested at all,you need a new mechanic. Even the pros throw parts at it.
If the TPS needs replacing, you can do it yourself. Go to the auto parts store and buy it. Look it up on NAPA site or others. About $75.00. Too easy, to pay someone to do.
A scanner code doesn't mean replace something. That was were you were going with your question. Always test, then replace. Test, not scan
Do this. Go to a shop, stand next to your vehicle, and have somone test it in front of you,not scan the system, actually test the TPS. Back probe it and put a Meter or Oscilloscope on it.

1987 nissan pathfinder wont crank or anything

FIRST TRY TO SEE IF THE FUSE AND RELAY ARE FUNCTIONING PROPERLY. IF THEY CHECK OUT THEN CHECK FOR SPARK AT EACH ONE OF THE SPARK PLUGS. IF YOU ARE GETTING SPARK THEN I WOULD REPLACE THE CRANKSHAFT POSITION SENSOR. THIS DEVICE IS RESPONSIBLE FOR OPENING INJECTORS AND SPARK PULSE THROUGH THE COMPUTER. HOPE THIS HELPS. PLEASE LET ME KNOW. BEST OF LUCK
