Question about Pontiac Grand Am

1 Answer

My car is a 2002 Pontiac Grand Am w/ the 2.2 ecotech motor in it . When I tried to star the car it was hard starting and once it did start ,it ran very rough and didn't have too much power . I had a friend plug it in to a hand held diagnostic machine and it read multiple cylider misfire . I know i just put new plugs in it and I checked all the connections and all was fine . The ecotech has that piece on the top of the motor the provides the spark ,is that the problem or is it something else ????

Most likely that piece on top of the motor is the problem. I believe it is called the control module. It is the little piece where the electric sensor plugs into

My 2003 pontiac grand am 2.2 ecotech keeps cuttin off its been sitting for a week what can it be

It could be your anti-thief system. Try turning your key to the on position but don't try to start the car. Leave it in the on position for 10 min. Your security light on the dash should stay on throught the process but will go out after the 10 mins. When you see it go off turn your key back off then start your car. If it starts, you just reset your anti-thief system. There are ways to bypass this system. I don't remember the web sights. Good luck.

2002 grand am won't start security problem

If the security light is on then place the key in the on position and leave it for about 10 minutes. When the security light starts blinking then press the brake pedal while the key is still in the on position. Then it should start. My 2002 was doing that for awhile and i would have to reset it about once a week or so.
