Question about 1998 Chevrolet S-10 Pickup

1989 Chevrolet pickup/driveability problem

In article <53mor1$ says... -- Has the ignition module been replaced? Replace it even if it's new (especially if it's an aftermarket module). Does this truck have a tachometer? If so does it act strangely when this happens? If that doesn't pan out recheck that fuel pressure. If you care to email me with a very good description of all known oddities I'll try to help more. example: popping where? exhaust? intake? what does it do if power braked? what does it do if just revved in neutral? By the way the harness between the ECM and module will almost always set a code for ESC and/or EST if it is even the slightest bit bad. Jordan Blessing L1 Master Tech engine has no power bogs down and dies but will idle

Popping noise in the intake can be from bad intake valves or weak intake springs.

My 1989 celebirt will start then die shortly later and will not start for several hours.

I would look at the ignition system - are you loosing spark to the plugs ??
Could be the ignition module, the pickup in the distributor (if equipped) or another electrical problem.

89 f150 to fireing

Check and see if u have spark to the plugs, if you don't replace the TFI ignition module on the distributor and the pickup inside the distributor, the dist must be removed to do this coil pickup replacement.
Comment posted on Mar 04, 2009 also check the fuel pressure if the spark is ok, the ignition is the ,most common issue. Comment posted on Mar 04, 2009 also check the fuel pressure if the spark is ok, the ignition is the ,most common issue.
