I had the same problem, and resulted in a bad computer. In yours, some oxidized contacts has to be cleaned up.

Good day,What is the easiest and effective way to diagnose and repair a petrol pump on the 1996 ford escort 1.4i hatch?

dont think the 1996 fuel pump "get to" is under the back seat

looks like the fuel pump and sender is on fitted top of the fuel tank
under the car
if so tank has to be removed completely

lots of work
better to budget for a new fuel pump

if you cant hear the fuel pump

with care
drop off the fuel filter line or
drop off the fuel line to the injector rail
and see if fuel gets pumped while you crank
or
paper clip wire the relay positive and negative pins only
or change relay

if you can hear the relay click
faulty petrol pump

The fuel relay should be under the speedometer, and the ecm should be under the passenger seat.

Cant locate the fuel pump relay

Hi there:

The fuel pump relay is located to the right of the glove box.

After the insulation panel is removed, the fuse/relay panel will be to the right of the glove box. The insulation panel should have a diagram of the fuse/relay panel layout.

Hope this helps.

How to install fuel filter&pump

  • De-pressurize the Camry's fuel system. With the gas cap open (to release pressure in that location), open the fuse/relay panel under the hood and remove the relay labeled "C/OPN." Start the engine and let it run until it stops. Disconnect the battery's negative cable.

  • Detach the rear seat from the car. Lift up the front edge of the seat bottom cushion, disconnect the mounting bolt underneath and remove the cushion. Pull up the seat back locks, flip the seat backs down and remove the mounting bolts.

  • Remove the service hole cover from the floor under the seat concealing the fuel pump/sending unit.

  • Disconnect the fuel line and electrical connectors from the fuel pump unit. Remove the retaining bolts and withdraw the unit carefully out of the fuel tank.

  • Release the clips on the fuel pump assembly's plastic support with a screwdriver to remove the support. Then pull off the rubber isolator, remove the fuel sock filter and disconnect the electrical connector from the top of the assembly. You can now withdraw the fuel pump from the housing.

  • Connect the new fuel pump into place on the assembly housing. Reassemble the fuel pump/sending unit in order, from the electrical connector to the fuel sock filter, rubber isolator and bottom plastic support.

  • Place the pump unit back within the fuel tank and reattach the bolts. Reconnect the electrical connectors and the fuel line. Reattach the rear seats.

  • Replace the "C/OPN" relay, reconnect the negative battery cable and fill the fuel tank if it is empty.

  • Pressurize the Camry's fuel system by turning the ignition on for a couple of seconds. Then turn it off for ten and repeat this five to ten times.

1995 bmw 325is installed new fuel pump it started and ran great. Tried to start 1 week later and it will only turn over I did put both seats back in and hooked up wires under them Is there a seat switch?...

on a 1995 there shouldn't be a start sequence and there shouldn't be a seat switch. there is a couple of different things that could be wrong. one your fuel filter could be clogged, the wires on the pump it's self could have came loose or unpluged the hose on the pump could have came loose, the relay to the fuel pump could have gone out. this is just a couple of solutions that i would try. and if they don't do the trick then it might be something more serious.

I need location of a 1995 Geo Prizm 1.8 fuel pump relay

I think it is under your rear seat cushion. Remove the rear seat cushion, you'll see the gas tank cover.

    92 Toyota Camry fuel pump...

I have replaced the fuel pump at least twice in the 268,000 miles i've owed it... if you have the rear seat off and youve turned your car on and don't hear anything than for sure your pump is not working... you would hear the hummm of a working pump especially without the obstruction of the back seat... your good for replacement

    No fuel

the fuel pump relay is up under the drivers pedals right hand side white relay, only thing is it wont be the relay thats at fault, it will either be the intank fuel pump/sender, or a loose terminal on the connector on the pump/sender under the black square panel under the rear seat base, under carpet, unfortunately it all comes as one unit. {worked for kings volvo dealer for 13 years} ade.
