disconnect you battery. take something and fray back the plastic on the main hot wire on the coil. take another wire and wrapp it to the main wire you just frayed. now take that wire and run it to you ignition fuse. re connect you battery and see if your vehicle will start. if so than you have either a break or a short in you hot wire for your coil.

If the fuel gets to the distributor but no fuel comes out of the distributor if the airflow disk pushed into the air/fuel mixure body, i suggest you check the electro-hydralic-actuator
53703cc.jpg Its the black box (picture thanks to elproboscis from ebay america) as it controles the flow to the pluger body inside the centre of the distributor and goes from the plunger direct to the 4 outlines.

Since the PCM uses info gatheres from the crank and cam sensors to calculate ignition - and there are no OBD codes - in all likelihood, the PCM itself is bad.

The Ignition Module, also transmits to the PCM.

It appears after all your testing - that the PCM is at fault.

It does not error report on itself (unfortunately).

The ignition timing is controlled by the Powertrain Control Module (PCM). No adjustment is necessary (distributorless ignition) or possible.

The engines covered by this manual are equipped with distributorless ignitions, ignition timing is controlled by the Powertrain Control Module (PCM), as applicable. No adjustments are possible. If ignition timing is not within specification, there is a fault in the engine control system. Diagnose and repair the problem as necessary.
Ignition timing is the measurement, in degrees of crankshaft rotation, of the point at which the spark plugs fire in each of the cylinders. It is measured in degrees before or after Top Dead Center (TDC) of the compression stroke.
Ideally, the air/fuel mixture in the cylinder will be ignited by the spark plug just as the piston passes TDC of the compression stroke. If this happens, the piston will be at the beginning of the power stroke just as the compressed and ignited air/fuel mixture forces the piston down and turns the crankshaft. Because it takes a fraction of a second for the spark plug to ignite the mixture in the cylinder, the spark plug must fire a little before the piston reaches TDC. Otherwise, the mixture will not be completely ignited as the piston passes TDC and the full power of the explosion will not be used by the engine.
The timing measurement is given in degrees of crankshaft rotation before the piston reaches TDC (BTDC). If the setting for the ignition timing is 10 BTDC, each spark plug must fire 10 degrees before each piston reaches TDC. This only holds true, however, when the engine is at idle speed. The combustion process must be complete by 23° ATDC to maintain proper engine performance, fuel mileage, and low emissions.
As the engine speed increases, the pistons go faster. The spark plugs have to ignite the fuel even sooner if it is to be completely ignited when the piston reaches TDC. Spark timing changes are accomplished electronically by the engine and ignition control computers.
If the ignition is set too far advanced (BTDC), the ignition and expansion of the fuel in the cylinder will occur too soon and tend to force the piston down while it is still traveling up. This causes pre ignition or -knocking and pinging-. If the ignition spark is set too far retarded, or after TDC (ATDC), the piston will have already started on its way down when the fuel is ignited. The piston will be forced down for only a portion of its travel, resulting in poor engine performance and lack of power.
Timing marks or scales can be found on the rim of the crankshaft pulley and the timing cover. The marks on the pulley correspond to the position of the piston in the No. 1 cylinder. A stroboscopic (dynamic) timing light is hooked onto the No. 1 cylinder spark plug wire (2.2L engine only, on the 2.4L engines, special adapters are needed) . Every time the spark plug fires, the timing light flashes. By aiming the light at the timing marks while the engine is running, the exact position of the piston within the cylinder can be easily read (the flash of light makes the mark on the pulley appear to be standing still). Proper timing is indicated when the mark and scale are in specified alignment.


WARNING When checking timing with the engine running, take care not to get the timing light wires tangled in the fan blades and/or drive belts.

possible just not probable. you need to see if there is any pressure to fuel rail. if not youre going to have to by pass the fuel pump and see if it is getting voltage. if so then apply a seperate voltage and ground wire to the pump to see if it kicks on. come to think of it, it could be the PATS system(security) that shuts down the system. it will crank but will not fire. your ford dealer will need to reprogram the system.

I been turning the engine over a lots but i don't smell any fuel shouldn't the engine be flooded by now? there is no spark at the spark plugs.

I have a 2000 sunfire and it cranks won't start though I have fuel from the pump I've checked all my fuses but I haven't got to the relays just yet I drove it to somewhere and it wouldn't crank afterward....


You need the basics to start the engine - fuel, air and spark. Your MAF - Mass Air Flow sensor could be dirty. Buy some sensor cleaner from auto parts store and clean it and let it dry. If that doesn't work test for spark if spark ok then bad fuel pump or fuel pump relay.

Have you checked for a strong blue spark at all cylinders? Have you checked the injector circuit? Are the injectors pulsing and putting fuel into the cylinders? Have you checked compression?


All I can think of. No theft security issues, car is not immobilized by that, is it? If all else checks out, maybe the engine computer?

Still need an answer to why my 98 explorer wont start ,started just fine 3 minutes prior spins but no start get spark compression fuel but no start if i wait a day or two it almost starts but dies qi


Check if the injectors are pulsing when cranking the engine over. Listen for the tick, or feel for the pulse with your fingertips, or buy a cheap "noid light"-an injector circuit tester- one that fits your injector harness connectors-plug it into an injector connector and crank the car. If circuit is working the noid light will be flashing.
Some anti-theft systems immobilize the injector circuit when they are activated. So you have spark, compression, and fuel to the engine, check the injector circuit.

We just bought a used 2001 Hyundai accent from my girlfriends cousin. it was heavily misfiring when we bought it.we changed the spark plugs and the wires and it worked fine.not even a day later the engine...


First of all did you check all fuses if so that ok, next did not mention changing crankshaft sensor. When you remove ht leads that go to spark plugs are they sparking use rubber handled pliers to do this or you will get a shock, if they ok did you set the clearence on the new plugs correctly?. also when cranking check with magni-stick pen to make sure injectors pulsing ie;getting signal. also immobilizer could cause engine to to start,usually light will flash on display to tell you this.last thing just make sure timing belt not snapped usually heard by engine turns faster than normal.

The first thing to check would be spark. This can be done by connecting a spark plug tester to a plug wire while the engine is cranking. The tester must be grounded to the engine block for a good electrical connection.. Your fuel pump pressure is OK.
The problem should be electrical so check
1. No voltage to the fuel injectors (blown injector fuse or bad relay)
2. No pulse signal to the injectors from the PCM (no crank or cam sensor input to the PCM, or a bad driver circuit in the PCM, or a wiring harness problem)
3. A shorted fuel injector (robs voltage from the other injectors so none will operate)

my daewoo nubira sedan year 2000 model will not start foe some reason i try to hit the button on my immobilizer to switch it off but it does nothing and that red light near the dash keeps flashing anyone no how to solve this problem?

2000 sebring won't start


Crank Sensor is the likely issue. It does not throw a code. Key indicator is the call stalls all the time. R&R sensor.
