You may have one item that failed ,or you most likely have two or more
If you have used the vehicle that way, more than a few days,I would stop everything ,and take it to a repair shop. That would just be common sense, before you possibly do some damage.

If you always do, all of your own repairs,I will be more than happy to help you, including E.Mail or Phone.

2 things should be looked at here. 1. the fuel filter by removing and blowing through. If your cheeks puff and there is heavy resistance, replace it! 2. the catalytic converter. Run the engine for about 10 minutes and then look underneath the vehicle. Is anything glowing red? If it is, go to a trusted exhaust repair shop and they will know what to do. Cost = $125-225. Let me know what you find.

At around 25 mph the car shakes however if I increase or decrease the speed it does it shake.

Hi Gurusam, Take the vehicle and have the wheels balanced as your first course of action. If the problem persists afterwards then have the suspension checked for any signs of ware on the joints and the linkages. I believe the first action will cure the problem. Regards John

Shakes over 25

If it shakes at 25 mph then the u joints are worn or you have bent the drive shaft. Ujoint vibration starts around 30 and gets worse as you increase in speed.

1996 Ford explorer 6 cyl. shakes at 45-50 mph

If the engine is misfiring and that is the source of the shaking then the check engine light will be flashing like crazy, other wise it is not the engine causing this, I know was a Ford tech for 25 years.

My Windstar is reading lean on the left and right banks, and a misfiring plug. I have replaced plugs and wires, put in a new coil, a new ERG valve, a new manifold, new plentum gaskets and am still having...

have your injectors cleaned, if they are clogged it can cause sputtering and plug misfiring. You can try putting some Lucas fuel treatment in your tank, but it sounds like its time to have them cleaned.

the shaking can, and most likely is, caused by the tires being out of balance.

Shaking at low speed (25-30 mph)

low speed shakes indicates a wheel alignment problem
have the suspension and wheel bearings checked out by an accredited suspension shop
under acceleration it could be engine mounts cracked in the rubber being actuated by misfiring form a cylinder
run the fault codes as well

Sticky deceleration.

get a can of carberator cleaner, and a bottle of white lithium grease, the spray kind,

spray the throttle springs really good with the cleaner, let it dry, and spray the lithium grease on it, and work the throttle back and forth, this should solve your problem.

I have a 2002 monte carlo and it shakes reallt bad at 50 mph and turning curves at 25 mph speeds and up...also going down hills and pushing the brakes..i just had new rotors and brakes put on the front...

I'm going to bet that you didn't do anything about checking the following:
  1. Tie Rods and ball joints.
  2. Shocks/struts...front and rear
  3. Wheel balance
  4. Condition of the tires.
If you don't know how to check the first two, do the following: jack front wheel up and insert a stand. Then take the bottom of the tire and pull up quickly and hard...does it 'click'? Now, do the same from front to back. Up and down wear is ball joints...side to side is tie rods. Get a mechanic to help you. Many chains will inspect for a modest fee.

If a tire is worn because of worn front end parts...the wheel can't hold a proper position in relation to the steering wheel...it wears the tires. They go out of balance and will shake at 25 mph. Check for rounded sidewalls and uneven wear. Replace the tires after getting new front end parts installed and aligned. Check your shocks/struts for excess wear or leaking. They contribute poor ride, to wear and sloppy handling
