04 Altima 2.5 s w 150k changed cat 2014 1 yr later p0420 code again what r normal reads for 02 sensors? reads @ idle fluctuate @ .3V b1 sensor & .8V b2 sensor.anyone had p0420 that wasnt a bad cat

Those cars are notorious for engine problems unfortunately. The exhaust valves tend to warp from heat after around 200k miles. Therefore throwing the O2 codes. Best outcome and cost effective thing I can recommend is replacing the engine with a new or low mileage engine.

We have changed 2 o2 sensors on our mercury villager 2001 but when checking computer the codes p138 and p139 still come up

Check the electrical connectors which connect to the O2 sensors for corrosion and improperly high resistance.

I have a 2011 dodge grand caravan that has a 3.6 L Pentastar engine. If this is the engine that you have, then you have 2 cat converters, One in the front and one in the back of the engine, I do not know how many miles you have on this Pacifica, But, if you have over 150K chances are you will have to replace the cat converter, Go to autozone and have them put the scanner on there, you must have the check engine light on,They will tell you which one it is either bank 1 or bank 2, Whichever one it is, you will have to replace the converter, if you have over 150K miles, Then not too long after that the other one will go out, It is an expensive repair, If you go to the dealer and buy the part, you will have to pay $150 to $300 core charge per converter because of the palladium and precious metal inside, You will get it back when you return the old one, Changing the 02 sensors, will not fix the problem. Besides you will see that unless you take out the converter,, you will not be able to get the sensors out,
You will not pass inspection with a bad cat converter, but, if it is time for inspection, you may be able to use CATA CLEAN and light may go off for a week or so

Jeep 2008 Commander 5.7 code p0430 What does this code mean? Thanks,

code --catalyst system efficiency below threshold bank 2 -means that the o2 sensor [bank 2 and after cat converter] is detecting that the converter in not working efficiently as it should as per specs--check the 02 sensor --if good possible exhaust leak if good --possible cat converter gone bad and since it is an 08 cat should be covered under warranty check with a dealer most converters are covered for five years doesnt matter how many miles on vehicle

Check engine light on PO420 code ? recalls

Huge problems with these cars. The Pre-cat converter is built into the exhaust manifold. Expensive to replace. No Recall on this item. Some say that inferior compounds in the catalyst cause corrosion and early wear of the piston rings. I have seen one of these use 5 qts of oil in 300 miles. Is this car using excess oil?

Check engine light came on recently. Car then

The exhaust system has two 02 sensors One before the cat converter and one after. The #2 02 behind the cat converter is the one that trips the light if emmisions are unacceptable coming out of the converter. The #1 or front 02 sensor monitors and constantly adjusts the fuel to stay within parameters. If the #2 tries to compensate for an inefficient converter and it conflicts with the #1 02, the ebgine will run poorly due to either too rich or too lean fuel adjustment. Have the #2 02 sensor replaced and the converter checked. Good luck
