Question about 1995 Lincoln Continental

2 Answers

I had my 95 lincoln continetial checked and they couldn't fix my problem because they didn't know what it was. My coil pack is not getting any fire to it and coil pack is good. Engine just spins and no problems no where else. No leaks, starter good, almost new battery and alternator, spark plugs new. Can you help me get fire to the engine or coil packs so i can get back on the road?

Been where you are with that car. I can guarantee you that its your ECM (computer). Dont waste your $ with changing all your sensors. Youll have to send your ECM to be reprogrammed. Its located (if i remember correctly) under hood on passengerside against firewall. Its a rectangular metal box recessed with just the face showing and wires connected to it. #1 and #4 are not firing I changed the coil pack and still no change any ideas

You said you changed the coil pack and the wires but didn't mention the plugs. Try moving one of the plugs to a different cylinder and see if the miss follows it. It could also be the ignition module. (the thing the coil packs mount to.)

TEST COIL PACK TO SEE IF THAY ARE FIREING

on the straight six you will remove the bolt holding each coil to the valve cover. Remove one coil and use either a spark tester or a test light. If there is spark the coil is good. If there is no spark swap that coil with another. If the swapped coil fires than you know the circuit is good. If the coil that didn't fire still doesn't fire than you know the coil is bad.

Did that help?

If you have any questions let me know.

Check engine light can on had check at Auto zone says # 5 cly. miss fire . can it be coil pack or spark plug ?i think it coil on # 5 cly. how hard is it to get to ?

If it's a 6 cyl.,3.0 you're in for some expense. The coil pack(s) is under the intake manifold. This involves much labor and draining of coolant, etc. don-ohio

1999 Lincoln continential will not start

I would first, change the spark plugs only if they were in the motor, say three years and 50,000. Not just to fix a misfire
Second you can only change a COP Coil, if you have a code or a way of knowing which one is bad. Again, why would you change all of them, when they all now work?
Crank Sensors rarely fail,so what test did you do to determine that was necessary?
Also.how would you know ,you had a missing coil, if you had no crank signal?
Now lets go from where you are now
Did you check fuel pressure,key-on ,eng off, with a pressure gauge?
Fuel filter fairly new?
Do you have all the ducting from the air cleaner to throttle body on and no vacuum leaks?
Do you have the MAF sensor connected. No signal,no start!!

Let me know what help you need
