Unhook the positive battery terminal in the engine compartment by the fuse box on the Right hand side. Let is sit for a few hours or over night then hook it back up that will Clear the CEL and if the problem causing it reoccurs will come back on.

Most oil change places have a tool onsite thay can hook up to diagnose the error codes also.

Therm. is being held open causing the engine to not heat up to a full 190 degrees. make sure you put in a 190 degree therm. and unhook the negative battery cable for at least 5 minutes to clear the code. the system could need a flush too, with over 100,000 miles or 5 years

Check engine like come on,when the gas cap as out for some reason i dont know why, now howi reset that light? there is lots of people with the some problema anway.

The electronic control unit carries out a pressure check of the EVAP system. If the cap is left off no pressure can be seen by the ECU and so it sets a code and CEL. To clear this CEL simply remove the battery negative terminal for five minutes. Reconnect and the light should be off. To clear the EVAP error code switch the car on and off 5 times, you do not need to start the engine just 'off and then ignition on' each time is enough.

Hi... I had to change my spak plugs, so the service engine light was on and so was the warning of "encrised emmisions". I just changed the plugs my self and now trying to reset. How do i reset...

the ideal way to reset your cel is to clear it with a hand held scanner, but removing the negative battery terminal and leaving it off for 5 minutes should clear the code-if it comes back, however, your problem has not been corrected.

How to reset computer on 2004 gmc envoy

If you are talking about turning off the check engine light (CEL), a simple reset will not work. The reason for the CEL being on needs to be addressed first. There are fault codes generated by the computer that can be read a OBII reader. These codes identify the area or sensor where the problem exists. One thing you never want to do is drive the car for longer periods of time with a flashing CEL. A flashing CEL indicates there is a problem that could possibly harm the engine or catalytic converter.

How do I reset my engine warning light on my 2006 Caravan? Thanks

The On Board Diagnostic (OBD) system will turn on the check engine light (CEL) when a problem or inconsistency is detected. When this problem is repaired or somehow clears up on its own, the OBD system will clear the code after a series or diagnostic run cycles. If you determine that the CEL is on erroneously, it can be cleared with most OBD code readers. Also, use the code reader to determine what is wrong and repair it. But do not clear the code just because you don't want to see the CEL on, it is there for a reason. Hopefully, this will help to FixYa problem!

Generally something mechanical is wrong with the engine. Could be minor or major.

How do you reset engine check light on 2004 Subaru Outback?

u can clear/reset the check engine light either with a scan tool, hit clear codes, or u can just disconnect the battery, the scanner clearing method is preferred as disconnecting the battery can cause temporary stalling issues.

Reset check engine light

Disconnect the battery for a few minutes. This should clear the code. Unless you have fixed the problem that set the code it will come on again.

Reset check engine light

First of all, you should'nt do this unless you know what the problem is.. or what tripped it. I had this problem when my husband and I were replacing a head unit and disconnected the old head unit, a/c and other stuff then turn the car on. This made the light flash. The first time we took it in and got charged $50 to reset it. The second time we did this procedure and it worked.

ECU Resetting Procedures

Timing is extremely critical. If it is NOT DONE within the specify time, the ECU will not reset and the Check Engine Light (CEL) will continue to remain ON.
A stop watch or an analog clock with a second’s needle will be useful.

Reset Check Engine Light Procedures

1. Confirm that accelerator pedal is fully released, turn ignition switch “ON” and wait 3 seconds.
2. Repeat the following steps (2a and 2b) procedures quickly five times within 5 seconds.
2a. Fully depress the accelerator pedal (HARD).
2b. Fully release the accelerator pedal.
3. Wait 7 seconds, fully depress the accelerator pedal and keep it for approx. 10 seconds until the CEL starts blinking.
4. Fully release the accelerator pedal (while the CEL is still blinking)
5. Wait about 10 seconds.
6. Fully depress the accelerator pedal and keep it for more than 10 seconds.
7. Fully release the accelerator pedal (The CEL light will continue to blink).
8. Turn ignition switch to “OFF” position and now you can start the car. The CEL light should be gone.

If the CEL light continues to remain ON, repeat the above steps. Timing is EXTREMELY critical to resetting the ECU.
