Question about 1996 Saturn SL

1 Answer

The service light on my 1996 Saturn SL1 came on and right after my A/C completely cut off (no air hot or cold will blow out any more) I checked my fluids added coolant and oil and the service light went off for about a day then it came back on I checked my fuses and it LOOKS like none of them are out, and it wouldn't make sense for it to be my air compressor because then air would still blow right?

Air would still blow yes..You should go to an auto parts store(advance, autozone) and ask them if they could run the codes for your check engine light(obd scanner hooks up driver side under hood latch)..Might shed some more light on the issue.. There is a blower motor under your glove box on passenger side. Its likely its either not getting any power or it is burnt up and needs has a cover over it.
1.remove cover
2.find where power hooks up and disconnect
3.turn on switch for air to blow
4.test voltage coming though connecter to blower moter(voltometer)
If there is no power coming though connecter, problem would be electrical before blower motor. If blower motor is recieving power but not working it should be replaced.

///////keep in mind. if its a fuse or relay..this could be a huge waste of time..i believe there is a relay for the blower motor. Should be under passenger side kick of the black labeled cubes. also..blower motor cover is likely to fall apart if your not careful..has a foam insulater inside.

Junkyards like Pull-A-Part are a good place to start if your trying to save some money..web site has saturn has 230000 on it and no issues from the blower..worth a shot to get a used one. Good Luck!

SOURCE: Leaking transmission fluid

it is down on the drivers side of the car about 18 inched from the front it has a tight fit so you will need to have a funnel with a hose, to fix the leak you will most likely have to replace your transmission pan (it cost me $240 at the dealership) the saturn ls1 sits very low to the ground and if you dent the pan it will leak i have replaced mine twice in four years

Most likely the freon has leaked from the system. Replacing it is a fairly simple process, but finding and repairing the leak is expensive (labor wise). Plus, in the States, federal law prohibits non-licensed personnel from working with freon and it's descendants. Find a good AC service shop and get an estimate--you may not need that AC air as much as you thought! Good luck!

Rear lights aren't working in my 1996 saturn SL1.Not bulb problem

Check fuses next, best done with a meter or a test light. You have a panel to the right of the center console in the front where the passengers left foot is, There is also one under the hood by the left headlight area. Remember that fuses for lights are only powered with the light switch on.
