Question about 1999 Audi A6

1 Answer

The hazard warning lights are flashing, only way to turn them off is to to take out fuse which also stops central locking. I think it is water problems affecting the comfort control unit. How do I get to this unit to check ? online posts say it is under carpet in front passenger floor well. Dont want to rip up carpets until I know for sure !

Even if you rip up the carpet you have nothing to see as its a "black box"try reseting the alarm/immobiliser to see if that has any effect..

I know this is the case, but i want to examine it, to see if there is water ingress causing this (common fault on this model) if there is water, odds on that this is the problem !!

IF YOU SUSPECT WATER INGRESS,SPRAY THE AREA WITH SILICON/WD40(BOTH WORK WELL..With regsrd to reset...key in door,unlock/hold key over(windows will go down...lock/hold key over(windows will go up and if fitted, sunroof will close.wait 30 secs then press/hold unlock button on remotefor 30 secs.....you have just reset the alarm/immobiliser/comfort computer settings.seperately....sit in the car with the key in the ignition (and in the off position after running the engine)press the window button down, then with your hand in the window(be brave)press the up button, the window will pinch your hand then rollback.ONLY DO IT ONCE.AS THE FIRST TIME IT PINCHES,THE SECOND IT HURTS,THE THIRD TIME IT WILL REALLY HURT AND YOU WILL NOT BE ABLE TO TAKE YOUR HAND AWAY(TRAPPED),this is VW s way of teaching kids not to play.......this is also a way of checking the rollback facility.(why would you want to.....?.....)

Hazard and turn inter actors central locking fuel relise door

A Chilton's/Haynes repair manual that covers your vehicles year/make/model goes a long way to trouble shooting. Oh I do hate chasing gremlins. Had same problem with Kia Sephia. It's fuse panel has a slot marked "meter." Didn't give it any thought as just what would "meter" have to do with turn signals and hazard lights. (the other issues you list don't apply as this is an older model and quite basic, no power goodies.) Took it to shop (got tired of chasing gremlins). Repair person is the one that told me about "meter" fuse. If you have the owners manual it may have a fuse panel "map." Be aware that there is another fuse panel under the hood that has fuses and relays. As an end note, I'm now trying to figure out why that fuse keeps blowing. Oh bother.

Look on the back of the fuse board ,for this you have to drop the fuse board as their are two fuses at the back and i know one is for the central locking ,the other ? Now when the hazard switch is disconnected the indicators shouldnt work but the only thing i can think of is the indicator unit is faulty ,do the hazards light the indicator lights up and they dont flash or is nothing happening?

Central locking wiring clio

I had a problem where my key fob did not lock or unlock the car, Renault Clio Dynamique, but the central locking button in the car did still work and engine turned over fine. Changed the key fob battery still nothing. Read online about disconnecting and reconnecting the car battery, (negative only) and hey presto it worked! All working fine now!

Audi tt x reg - the key fob is not working. Additionally, the hazard warning lights intermittently come on when i the engine. The hazard warning lights do not stop flashing and i often have to try...

this can be a big problem so will start on easiest first. and try to repair as going, the passenger door the problem with this could be the solenoid for the door lock. and or the switches in the lock. driver door has the same but is the master door. ie if you open door from unlocking at pass door it will only open this door, drivers side will open all doors. flashing hazards this could be because the alarm is not completely turned off this could be because of the doors, mainly the drivers side. try to find the fault with the door lock and get back to me when you have found the fault. you will need a meter to check for volts and the switches, check them as lock unlock from the inside and the key to make sure they working. dpd spray should be able to clean them if you can spray into the lock and housing that is plastic. give a good flush out after its working wipe up the mess from the spray and mear grease on the lock moving parts.

I have a 1994 Volvo 850 nonturbo,my turn signal is doing the same thing that my hazard lights are doing when i turn it on left and right. Which wires do i need to fix and where are they located on the car?

you might be having a short circuit open the fuse box try pulling one by one starting with central locking fuse ,each time checking whether the turn signal stop"speed" flashing if you find which one tell your mec to deal with it.
