Question about Chevrolet Corvette

I have a 78 vette and when fully accelerated from dead stop it lays rubber that bogs down like a flat spot and then I let up on accelerator and it runs smooth even when I floor it at 30 miles an hour. Don

Somethings to check; fuel pressure at higher RPM's, distributor centrifical weights and springs. Other thing to consider is a weak coil.

I get s flat spot upon stepping on the accelerator, it is petrol engine and has a carburetor(no its EFI)

carbs ended here in 1994

scan the pcm ! first.
it will tell you , the reason.
the errors from the Trottle body or the 4 TPS sensors
2 in TB body motor.
2 under rigth foot
if 1 disagrees, PCM goes to limphome and is weak power.


you can NOT fix or diagnose any modern car
lacking a scan tool.

98 sebring 2.5l bogs down or loses power when accelerating. Timing shows to be on #5 at tdc. Any ideas?


FLAT SPOT? have the engine checked over, maybe get a compresssion tester and check cylinders are all good and have similar compression?
Might be nothing serious but probably needs some thourough investigation as soon as possible.

Starts missing /large dead stop when accelerating


The missing while accelerating is likely due to ignition coils and/or spark plugs going bad. The missing while in park is a normal thing. The car has a rev limiter that will not allow the engine to rev to higher than 3000 RPM while in park.

Check fuel pressure regulator for fuel laying in the vacuum line going to the regulator.If it has fuel in it replace regulator. If its ok then check fuel pressure if its not within specs replace pump.

It is possibly the O2 sensor. I had some issues with early 90's 4.0 liters where the O2 sensor would stick rich under heavy acceleration and would cause it to lean out and bog down. It felt like a rochester four barrel flat spot on an old chevy. I hope this helps.
