Check coolant level first. It may be a clogged heater core. Feel the two hoses coming out of the firewall, both should be hot when up to engine temperature. If one hose is cold, your core is clogged. Unhook both hoses from engine, hook a garden hose in one hose and blow out the clog, pretty messy and gunky.

Are ACDelco 41-942 Spark Plugs the proper plugs for the 1996 GMC JIMMY 4WD V6 , are they pre gaped and what should the proper gap be?

they should be the 41-932 plugs. AC Delco
gap should be 0.060 inch.
Check the gap before installing any plug. You never know if they were damaged in shipping before the part store got them, or if some idiot employee at the store attempted to juggle them while bored one day and damaged them by dropping them.

Replace heater core

Hello,

To replace the core of your GMC 2001 Jimmy, You will be needing these instruments, Repair manual, Socket set, Screwdrivers, once You have them together, please follow the steps below:
  1. Lift up your car's hood and locate the heater core. If you are not sure where the core is located, an auto parts store employee or a repair manual can help.
  2. Remove the screws or bolts that hold the heater core in place. You may need to remove other parts of the car before being able to access the heater core.
  3. Disconnect the intake and outtake hoses from the heater core. You may need a special tool to remove the couplings that connect the hoses to the heater core (refer to your car model's repair manual.)
  4. Remove the heater core. Be careful not to tip the core over, as coolant will leak out.
  5. Reconnect the upstream and downstream hoses on the new heater core in the same matter that they were attached to the faulty core. Leaks can occur if the hoses are not connected properly.
  6. Screw or bolt new heater core in place.
  7. Finally, replace all of the removed car parts.
That is how to replace Your heater core.
Hope this was helpful. Thank You for using FixYa!!!

Heater core neeeds to be replaced what has to be removed to get to it

Hi there, All of your dash and heat exchanger. The core is in the firewall behind the glove box. Has to removed from the inside. This a big and nasty all day job. Best thing to do is buy a Haynes or Clinton's repair shop manual at your local AP store for your particular vehicle. Then read up on it in the trouble shooting section or the step by step RR section. You can purchase these at your local Auto Parts store or buy them on line at ebay burdfrenzy
