It is doubtful you will receive any help with comments like that!

Maybe if you reposted without the critisism and with more information like what year is your vehicle? What kind of Pontiac is it? What engine does it have? Is it an automatic or manual transmission?

Well, I am answering you for free...I am not ashamed...

First, to answer your question, it would help if you posted the year, make, and model of your vehicle. Second, we would like the engine size. Third, if you do not know how to identify your engine size, please let us know and we can tell you how to determine this. And last, is it an automatic or manual (stick)?

Speedometer not working chevy ss 2003

GM had gauge cluster problems from 2000-2005. Bad stepper motors. On those units you have to replace the cluster or rebuild it with new stepper motors.

Gas and speedometer gages not working

Instrument cluster contacts are bad, or the cluster is bad. Check my comments to verify the following as a diagnostic tool only. Turn the key on, but don't start the van. Hit the dash above the steering wheel hard, but don't hurt yourself. Give it a few tries if it doesn't work. If it's just the contacts (where the panel plugs in in the back) it'll come on and work 5 minutes...10 years. If you're not comfortable hitting it. Just turn the key on and try to wiggle the speedometer. That'll help to diagnose it.

The most common problem causing this is fixed by simply resetting the gauge control module. This isnt a definite, but it is quick and is worth a shot, you can do it yourself. Follow these directions EXACTLY.
You will lose your radio settings doing this btw.
Make sure you have your radio code before doing this, you will need it.

1. Disconnect the neg battery cable and then disconnect the positive battery cable.

2. Touch the cables together(to each other, not the terminals) for about 2 minutes.

3. Reconnect the positive cable and then the negative cable.

4. Start the engine, it should work normally. (If not let me know and I will tell you your next option)

5. Next, Turn the car on, turn off all electrical stuff like AC and radio.

6. Let the car heat up to regular temperature, then let it idle for 10 minutes. (It may be a rough idle, the computer is relearning how to idle)

7. Shut the engine off.

8. Turn the key to the ON position(not RUN)

9. Make sure the window is all the way up. Now put the window all the way down.

10. Next, put the window all the way up again, and hold the up button for 5 seconds after it has reached the top. (this sets the window auto up feature)

Good luck

Both speedometer & tachometer not working, both reading wrong.

"The Fix" works...I would have not believed it untill I did it.... Start the car in reverse and about 5 times later it reset the speedometer back to!
