Question about 2002 Ford Super Duty F 550

2 Answers

I have a 2003 F550 7.3 diesel dump truck. First thing in the morning it doesn't want to start. When it finally starts, it runs very rough shaking all over, like it is running on 2 cylinders. After it runs for about 20 minutes it smooths out and runs great all day. If it is shut off it stars ok. Park it for the night and the next morning, same thing all over again. I have it with a Ford dealer now, they have put in 2 new injecters and ringed the rest, checked the glow plugs, new wiring harness to glow plus, very good oil pressure. But it still has the same problem. Anyone got any new ideas???

I have the same problem with the same truck same year, it seems to be a temperatrure related problem, if we plug the truck in for half an hour the vehicle starts no problem, this issue is temperature related please report if you have found any other answers.

I have a 99 f-super duty & 4 injectors were replaced & the problem left & returned six weeks later. the problem is the injectors have to all be replace at the same time cause of the high oil pressure the ones that were not replaced now have to compensate and cant so i suggest replaceing all at once. i know its expensive but it will solve the issue unless its a blown head gasket. then antifreeze will be lost. so check that out then fix..

Believe it or not. if a manual trans. with a dual mass flywheel if it is bad it will bounce around when cold and will cause false injector contribution codes and make the engine run rough until warm. Or a icp solenoid bad .

Diesel run poorly when first start in morning

Injectors are going bad. Might try fuel additives and changing engine oil to see if they might get better.

Engine runs rough

soo many mechanical possibilities if you started a frozen you plug vehicle in with a water heater at night to keep it from freezing where you live?'ll need to have a compression test to determine if a ring or valve train component didnt break from starting it when frozen..
