Question about Chevrolet S 10

1 Answer

I just rep[laced the starter on my 83 chevy pickup. It started fine for about 16 hours now I am getting the same problem. I turn the key to start the truck and it's almost like I have a dead battery but the battery is good. What could be causing this. I am stuck at a truck stop nad I really need a solution. Thanks

You may want to check the connections from the battery to the relay. ( the cable that goes from the positive to the firewall ) Also check the - negitive from the battery to the frame.
Good Luck,

On the relay there will be a small wire in the center, with a rubber "L" boot. This is the wire that comes from the key switch.Look to see that wire is on. This activates the relay solenoid.
You can put the truck in neutral turn the key on and with something metal , jump across from where the battery cable hooks on to that small center psst. You have to take that small wire off first. This "jumping"
across by-passes the start mode of your key switch. In case your ignition switch has failed.
    Good Luck,

I have a 1995 chevy g30 that i have rep[laced disttributor , eck and full tune up still no fire or fuel any suggestions

Are you getting fuel pressure to the throttle body ?
Does the check engine light come on when you turn the key on ?
If you are not getting voltage to the fuel pump and no voltage to the coil I would check the computer to see if it is getting power then proceed in checking the fuses and relays for power. Could be something simple like the key switch or a fuseable link.

Replaced the starter solenoid on my 83 Chevy S10 Pickup

Are you not getting voltage to the battery post on the solenoid, or the terminal for the wire from the key switch ?
You have a neutral safety switch between the starter and the key switch if that is the circuit in question.
Also take a look at the ground cable and connections.

I have a 1990 chevy s10 blazer. I am in the process of cleaning out the engine so i bought some degreaser. Sprayed the degreaser on the engine as told to by the directions and rinsed it all down with...

my uncle had an older chevy pickup once that had a simaller problem. with his it would start and drive fine but once it was warmed up and shut off it would not start again untill it cooled down again. his problem turned out to be a loose wire on the bottom of the block that coneccted to the starter i beleive so check that before buying a new starter because from the sound of it you may have the same issue caused by the degreaser

Rebuilt my 83 chevy s10 2.8 engine and it will turn over and we have spark and fuel it just won't start

You need spark, fuel, timming and compresion to make any car run. You say you have spark and fuel, but is the timming correct? double check to make sure that the dist is not out by 180degr. Also some times on a fresh motor, the rings may not be sealing yet. Put a very small amount of oil in each plug hole to help seal for compresion.

I have 98 Chevy S10 pick-ups? MY problem is there

Yes it could well possibly be the ignition switch or starter solenoid or intermittent ignition switch starter contact.Again check connections on battery especially the ground connection at the block. Also there could be air in the fuel line any of these could be hindering start up!

Wiring Diagram 1998 Chevy S-10 starter replacement

The starter has one large cable from the battery positive, and a wire that goes to the solenoid (Part of the starter) that becomes hot when the key ignition is turned to start. This also passes through the neutral safety switch. (So it wont start in gear) Not sure if this is what you need, a little vague.
