Recently I have been experiencing problems with my 2004 envoy.. When you push the accelerator to the floor or just about it you can feel strain come on the engine. She will very slowly pick up and hesitate to go past 60 km/h.. Seems to me the engine is straining but the transmission is not working with the engine.. Hopefully you can help with some points...

Try recalibrating the HVAC system first. Set all HVAC controls and switches to their OFF or CCW positions, then disconnect battery for a couple of minutes, reconnect battery and don't touch any of the HVAC controls for 2 - 3 minutes. If this does not correct the problem, you may have a stuck blend door or another bad actuator.

I have to push the accelerator almost to the floor to get it to go in to passing gear. Motor feels weak and takes a long time to gain speed. car feels heave but the motor runs very smooth

Actually, this is normal. To 'kick down' the gear in the transmission, you should go WOT or wide open throttle.

4 cylinder motors seem to feel weaker than v-8's and are tuned to the transmission to rev higher to accomplish a certain acceleration point.

Good luck on driving.

It sounds as though you are definitely having a transmission issue as well as possibly other drive line problems. You should have the vehicle inspected by a professional as soon as possible; because this could potentially be a major safety issue as well as causing further significant damage to you vehicle.

Damn spiders,Find the hose from under the vehicle and blow some air into the hose, not to high pressure, watch out for the water as it usualy comes out afterwards. Then turn on the blower on high and you should feel some air coming out of the hose. You might want to try the blower on first to see if it actually blocked and not some other problem. Please rate this if it was helpful Thanks
