While driving mt collant temp light come on.

Check the radiator ( not hot) and overflow/fill tank for proper levels. Check under the car after parking for any leaks. The temperature is usually read at the thermostat, so it may be stuck closed , causing overheating, and the light to come on. Thermostat is an easy fix. If the car has been overheating you will need to change the thermostat anyway. The car will run fine in the summer without the thermostat , so at least take it out and see what happens.

The coolant leaked right out onto the ground, the pump is working

Those cars have big problems with the intake/intake gaskets leaking, and water pumps. When you find the leak, repair and flush with coolant other than dexcool as this is the source of most of the cooling issues on GM cars.
