Could be plugs, leads, disribtr or worst case ecm...if it is a misfire under load, then this would be the most likely cause....

Ir would depend on when anrd where it was last serviced ???

This sounds like a misfire. Put the car in DRIVE and firmly hold the brakes down. Give it gas and you should feel the misfire.

I have a 1997 Hyundai elantra cranks but wont start sometimes, i usually have to accelarate (give it gas)for it to start and there was misfire on the spark plugs, what gives?

Fist off no amount of giving gas to a fuel injected system helps it start. What you are describing sounds like the crank shaft sensor is bad. That would cause misfire and then no start later.

First, it will go a lot better if you tell us what it is... Make, model, year.

Could be loose wire to ignition, computer or fuel system. Without knowing what the car or truck is, the codes don't help.

Causes cylinder misfire

Misfire problems have 3 possible reasons: gas, spark, or a mechanical problem. You have tried to address the gas and ignition problem. If you now do have spark on #7, and the injector is putting gas into the cylinder-you should make sure of this before proceeding-then you may have a valve or cam lobe problem in that cylinder, or even a head gasket leak. A leak-down test will confirm that and indicate the problem. Alternatively, you could have an engine compression test done. Low compression in #7 will confirm the problem, but won't give you any indication of what or which valve may be not sealing.

2000 Chevy S-10 Pickup smoking (GRAY) you can smell gas , its like it lost power and aint getting full gas pressure.

I had to give it gas sometimes for it to start ? Stepping on the gas pedal does not give it gas till it starts . Pushing on the accelerator pedal while cranking gives it more air , not fuel , untill it starts an is running . It has electronic fuel injection . Your vehicle is flooding out . running rich .

DTC P0200 Injector Control Circuit

Circuit Description
The powertrain control module (PCM) has four fuel injector driver circuits, each of which controls a fuel injector. The PCM monitors the current in each driver circuit and is able to control the driver circuit. The current through each driver can rise to a peak of 2 amps to quickly open the fuel injectors and can reduce to 1/2 amp to hold the fuel injectors open. This is called peak and hold. If the current cannot reach a 2 amp peak, a DTC is set. This DTC is also set if an fuel injector driver is shorted to voltage.

An injector driver circuit that is open or shorted to voltage will cause a DTC P0200 to set and will also cause a misfire due to an inoperative injector. The misfire DTC should also be set indicating a misfire.
Long Term and Short Term FT that are excessively high or low are a good indication that an injector is malfunctioning. Refer to Sequential Multiport Fuel Injector Balance Test to test for malfunctioning injectors.

Well it all start right out of the blues. Put gas and 4.8 miles later my car started to misfire and drive very roughly. I thought it was bad gas since it happen right after I put gas . So then my check...

You never guess at anything
You learn the systems on your vehicle, test, then replace, only if a part fails a test
You replaced a very expensive converter,WHY?
PO300,you forget
You do however work on the PO301 thru PO306 misfire codes.
Bad coil pack,module,etc
Don't go putting in spark plugs, they never misfire.
