Question about 1993 Nissan Pathfinder

1 Answer

The power locks don't work at all on my 1993 Nissan Pathfinder. When I depress the button to lock the doors, I only hear a click that seems to be coming from the rear somewhere. Is there a fuse somewhere that's blown?

I replaced the fuse with the spare one and there was no change. Locks still don't work.

sorry about the rating, i'm new to this. there is no noise from the locks themselves. i cannot lock the doors from outside. to unlock the doors, i crawl in through the cargo area to unlock one of the doors.

Thanks for the prompt response. I changed the fuse with the spare one and it made no difference. Locks still don't work.

Okay...except for your rating (which we are not done fixing your problem), do the locks themselves make any noise? Can you lock or unlock the doors from the outside of the vehicle?

  • wongfj Oct 15, 2010

sorry, i'm kinda new to the ratings thing. the locks do not make any noise. used to be able to lock/unlock the doors with security fob up to about 3 months ago. now it doesn't work either. to unlock the doors i climb in through the cargo area to unlock one door.

Okay....here is the problem (I have a 1990 Model), there is a little plastic tab that is attached to the lift rod that pops the lock up and down. Yours are broken, just like mine. I have to crawl through the back end and unlock from the rear door as well.

You can fix this but it is a bit of a pain. The part I am talking about is yellow in color and is plastic. You'll either have to order it from Nissan (and they may not supply it!), go to a junkyard and find one that is not broken either, or check craigslist for some one parting out a 1987-95 Pathfinder.

If I can find a picture I will post it but it is inside the door mixed in to the linkage...it is yellow and has two plastic tabs...one or both are broken.

Bummer. Thanks for the info. I guess I'll continue to get some exercise by climbing through the rear door.

    Thanks again.

Nissan 1990 pathfinder doors won't unlock

Door locks are powered through a circuit breaker (location not indicated) which applies 12V to the door lock timer. Insertion of the key causes the door lock actuator to unlock the door ...unless the timer prevents it. It is doubtful that all the doors could have failed lock components

My 1998 nissan pathfinder auto door lock clicks when im driving and locks automatically when I unlock the truck

That sounds like a possible bad door lock switch to me. I have also seen defective door lock control modules cause the same symptoms. These things can also cause your battery to drain because it is probably also doing this when the vehicle is shut off. The power lock solenoids in the doors will also bedestroyed if it is allowed to continue.

If you cannot get it diagnosed and repaired right away, I recommend unplugging your door lock control module to prevent furter damage to the vehicle. Yours is located under the dash next to the fuse block. (See picture)

1993 Nissan Altima The security light is blinking and the car wont turn over. it has a good battery. Is the flashing security light preventing the car from turning over?

Yes, the security system shuts power to the starter and fuel pump. You can try disarming by unlocking and locking the doors the power door locks switch (depends on model). Place the key in the ignition and set to ON, ALL doors closed!! Cycle the locks using the power locks button on the driver's door "lock" then "unlock" if this doesnt work, try same method with the ignition OFF. Otherwise your security system is malf.

How to set factory alarm without remote, togle switch enabled

factory alarms are passive, if it is working it sets itself when u exit the car. u don't need the remote for the alarm to work if it has a factory system. if u want to test if it is working lock the car with the power lock button and leave the window down, reach inside the car and open the door from the inside handle, the alarm will sound if it is working, to disarm just lock and unlock driver door with the key..

1993 Nissan Maxima SE Car Alarm freaks out, and other electrical

Im no professional but i did recently buy a 93 maxima and i have the same security alarm problem and my powered locks dont work at all. im taking off the door panel today to take a look and see if the alarm sensor is loose or damaged, if it is, ill probably just disconnect it. one thing i have noticed though is that when i hit the lock or unlock button, i hear a faint click from the dashboard area which im assuming is the solenoid on a transistor which would mean that the buttons work but the transistor isnt delivering power. Semi-Solution for Locks: Listen for very quiet click when you lock/unlock doors, if you hear it, uve got major work to do, if you dont, then take apart the door and check the switch connections. Semi-Solution for Alarm: take off the door panel and disconnect the sensor.
