You could have a worn out water pump
The impellers will wear down over time
The fan Belt may not have adequate tension
The radiator may need flushed

Good Luck, I hope this gives you some things to consider

Does the fuel pump on a 97 chrysler lhs make sound when the key is on?

check the fuses for the fuel pump then if its good check the wiring for the system.there is also a pump relay in the system to check,if there is no power to the tank unit then changing the pump is not going to fix the problem.

ok the ac will cycle even if its not on thats the way the factory has it set up.
the fan will also cycle the same way. but the temp of the motor has to do with
the thermostat thats whare i would be looking the thermostat may be bad
when you pick up a new one test it if it says 180 deg. that is when its wide
open check it with a temp guage a house hold type in a pot of boiling water
on your stove i have found 1 out fo 6 would be good go figure.
now the censors. one wire tells you temp guage 2 wires tells you its a
switch for the fan while the motor is running use the same house hold
guage a meat thermomiter will work just fine

i hope this helps you BOB !!!

When the heat gauge shows hot and the hot light comes on the cooling fans must come on therefore there is a problem with the fans. The fuses been replaced so that is ok just check if it is not blown again indicating a short circuit in the fans. If that is OK check the wiring leading to the motor if it is not disconnected somewhere. Look on the engine where the fan heat sensor is by following the wires from the fan and check the connection. Change the fan heat sensor as last resort.

Check out the fan, maybe is not working, about 1 year ago same happened to me, changed many parts but keep getting hot and finally found that the fan had a short circuit and sometimes didnt work.

There is a connector between the fan motor and the fuse box eliminate the connector instead directly join wire to wire

Based on the description, either the problem is on the water pump, the radiator fan or the hoses. If you have replaced the hoses or noticed that the hoses are not brittle and clamps are ok, then you can eliminate it as one of the source of the problem. Inspect the radiator fan if it turns on when you remove the thermostat. The thermostat looks like a small plug that has wires coming out of it and is connected to one of the radiator hoses. If it does not turn on it could be a problem on the relay or the fan itself. You may swap the AC fan relay with the radiator fan. If it still does not turn on then it is a bad fan. If it turns on then, have the relay replaced. Other than that your water pump for the radiator needs replacing. It may not be circulating water correctly.

I own a 1996 chrysler lhs, and my radiator engages

Since we don't have the option os asking questions I can only make assumptions.

  1. If you did not buy this new, someone may have direct wired the fan.
  2. If you have it on a/c or defrost, the fan comes on with those two options regardless of how hot the engine is.
  3. If you have the auto control head, it may have a problem.
There are a lot of reasons, but one thing; it is better that it comes on than it does not come on at all.

Follow the wires from the fan back. I believe you are going to find that some one hot wired the fan into a switched circuit. People do this because they don't have the expertise to diagnose the problem or the time needed.

Hope this helps

1996 Chrysler LHS over heating. replaced cooling

You also want to make sure that the ground wire for the fans is secured tightly to the fan framework.

1997 Chrysler LHS is overheating

If when you replaced coolant you noticed taht it fills slowly, the radiator could be internally blocked. Usually it can be flushed or if really bad, replace it. Also have the radiator checked for hydrocarbons...any in there tells you that there is a head gasket problem.
