This might not help you much but I believe that prior to 1961, it produced just 94 horsepower from its 230 cubic inch of displacement. After 1961, horsepower just increase to 114 so displacement must not have changed much.

After flushing, I get brakes but they're soft. what am I doing wrong?

A bad master cylinder usually gives a pedal that will gradually drop to the floor after braking, i.e. stopped at a light, the vehicle will start to crawl and you'll have to increase pressure or pump the brake. Sounds like the problem is not being caused by the master cylinder but by the calipers. The caliper pistons and master cylinder piston MUST operate as a matched set for volume of fluid displacement.

Are you certain the calipers are an exact match for the vehicle, i.e. the master cylinder used in your Avy??? Do a couple of quick pumps bring up the pedal and it remains firm under pressure?

If the volume of brake fluid displacement for the new caliper pistons to expand exceeds that of the old calipers, the pedal will go lower because you only get one stroke of a given volume displacement from the master cylinder's in line pistons no matter how much fluid is in the reservoir...a larger volume of the caliper pistons will lower the pedal, too much and the pedal will hit the floor....if so, either go back to calipers with piston displacement similar to the old volume or get a master cylinder with a larger bore piston so the displacement matches that of the calipers pistons.......

Replaced and added to my original post:

If your brake specialist agrees that the above is causing the problem, and you decide to replace the master cylinder rather than going back to the old calipers, you will also have to make certain that the proportioning valve assembly is compatible with the new arrangement.

Will the brake booster from a 2000 dodge grand caravan fit a 1997 dodge grand caravan

It's a difficult question to answer. The manufactuers make vehicles a little different from year to year.Ask at a Dodge dealership and/or purchase a repair manual on both models and make comparisons. You might be better off buying a new booster.

I have a 1970 Dodge pickup with the gas tank behind the seat. I would like to replace it with one mounted under the bed. Mechanical fuel pump. Do they make a poly tank that can be used? Does anyone have...

chances of a poly tank being made for this year of truck are slim, you may have to find a steel one from newer model to mount in that location, I personally haven't done this yet, but i can look into tank applications at my workplace to see if I can come up with a more detailed solution for you

I need to know all the torques of the different parts of the motor including pistons

What you need is to call the service department near you and ask for a fax of the torque specifications for your year make and model of you vehicle. Yuo'll probably have to give them the VIN for engine specifics. This is your best venue. Thanks, Dana

If you remove thermostat water will circulate too fast and will not cool down, replace thermostat and check if your fan is turning in correct direction. Also make sure your ignition timing is ok. I found on some vehicles the waterpump seems ok but when vehicle starts heating up the impeller gets loose on the shaft. Check your brakes if they are not binding.
