Question about 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee

Had heater disconnected...need to hook it back up. anyone know how?

There are two heater hoses, each appx. 1 inch wide, that run from the engine and hooks up to the heater core, behind your dashboard. The heater core's two connection pipes stick out from the firewall of your jeep and you have to attach the two heater hoses to those two pipes. If someone disconnected your heater, they probably just joined together the two heater hoses, that run from your engine, so now you'll have to disconnect that joining and reattach the hoses to the heater core pipes. That way, hot coolant will flow into the heater core to warm you up.

The back or rear defrost is an electric grid that works independently of the heater. If replacing the thermostat produced heat, you would seemed to have solved the problem but the heater blower could still be at fault. If you can't detect warm air actually blowing into your Taurus the blower is a likely suspect. A faulty blower also would affect your A/C.

Car wont start


did the engine accidentally get turned on by key when timing belt was off or anything that could have moved crank or cam shafts.did you hook battery back up..never know,is their something you have to do to reset computer after you disconnect battery...

1995 jeep cherokee heater problems


Get jeep up to operating temp
Turn on heater to max heat
Hood feel 2 heater core hoses goint into upper passenger side of engine compartment firewall.
They should feel too hot to hold
If it's not hot, could be 6 things
1. heater control valve is bad
2. Vacuum to heater control valve is bad
3. clogged heater core.
4. Bad thermostat
5. Bad waterpump
6. Needs more coolant (check when system is cold)

Do these things:

1. Disconnect vacuum line from control valve and feel under valve to manually move valve to open position. This should let hot water flow through core. If you now have heat inside, replace the heater control valve. Or you can disconnect the plunger on the heater control that is hooked on to the silver bar on the bottom of it. With it disconnected you can manually move it to the open position. It will always remain on.

2. When system is cold, disconnect both heater hoses going to heater core. hook up a water hose to one side of heater core and flush out any gunk. When you get done, the water should run clear. If you see lots of gunk come out, that was probably the problem. Replacement is like $20-30

3. When system is hot and engine running, squeeze the upper radiator hose (using gloves) when you release it you should feel a surge of water. Proves your water pump is working. If no surge, check thermostat. If thermostat checks good, look at the weep holes at the bottom of the water pump for traces of antifreeze. If you see a trace or stream of coolant, indicates bad pump.

4. As far as testing the thermostat, watch as your engine heats up on the gauge. when it gets to a certain point you will see the temperature rise, then lower, then rise again. This means your thermostat opened properly, cooling the system temporarily, then heated it back up. Replacement is around $5

Try these and see how it goes.

does anyone know where the small water hose goes on the back of the engine. there is a small hose hooked to a heater hose running behind the engine.one end hooks to heater core. the small one is about the size of a gas line.

I need to know how to bypass the heater core on my 2003 trailblazer. Pictures would help.


You have two hoses going into the firewall by the passenger side-disconnect them, and find some way to hook those hoses together, you have bypassed the Heatercore.

REAR HEATER PROBLEM


your lines going to the back may be plugged up and the antifreeze is not able to flow through the rear heating system. disconnect your cooling lines at the back and see if there is coolant in both sending and return line hook a garden hose to the lines see if you can flush out the whole heater system in the back

How do I disarm air bag to puy new heater core in


disconnect battery wait 2-3 mins pull fuses for air bags out then disconnect air bag plugs (yellow) in that order you will have no issues just reverse to hook back up

Kia Sportage heater core removal and replacement


Hi there,

Here are the steps to remove heater core

1. Chock wheels. 2. Drain the engine coolant. Refer to Engine Cooling System. 3. Discharge and recover the refrigerant from the A/C system. Refer to Recovery/Evacuating/Charging in this section. 4. Remove the dash panel. Refer to Body. 5. Remove the Blower/Evaporator unit. Refer to Blower/Evaporator Unit in this section. 6. Disconnect the low pressure line from the evaporator outlet on the bulkhead. 7. Disconnect the high pressure line from the evaporator inlet on the bulkhead. 8. Disconnect the heater return hose from the heater core outlet tube connection. 9. Disconnect the heater inlet hose from the heater core inlet tube connection. 10. Disconnect the fresh air/recirculation control cable from the blower housing unit inlet duct. 11. Disconnect five connectors at the bottom of the blower housing unit. 12. Pull carpeting away from bulkhead to gain access to the hole cover plate. 13. Remove the four nuts retaining the hole cover plate. 14. Remove the hole cover plate. 15. Remove two mounting bolts at the top of the blower housing unit. d40e96a.jpg 16. Remove two nuts attaching the bottom of the blower housing unit to the bulkhead mounting studs. 17. Remove the blower unit from the vehicle. 18. Remove the temperature control cable from the heater unit servo. 19. Remove the two nuts from the mounting studs at the bottom of the heater unit. 20. Where are the heater core hook ups


The heater core is located on the passenger side of the vehicle. If this has been bypass the core is surely leaking. The heater core pipes should be visible from un der the hood, passenger side of vehicle towards the firewall. keep me posted, and keep an eye on that heater core, there is reason for the prior owner not to have heat.
