  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2. Remove the steering column cover, intermittent wiper control and the lower instrument panel module retaining screw to the right of the steering column.
  3. Remove the center distribution duct retaining screws and panel support screw at the bottom of the module. Fig. 1: Heating/air conditioning unit components - Dakota models Where is the blower motor - 88476g01.gif

  4. Remove the courtesy lamp at the lower right corner of the module and the screw near the ash receiver.
  5. Open the glovebox and remove the screws along the top edge.
  6. Move the module out and down far enough to unclip the wiring harness and antenna cable and disconnect the speaker wire (if equipped with monaural radio) and glovebox light wire. Remove the module from the vehicle.
  7. If the vehicle is equipped with air conditioning, disconnect the two vacuum lines from the recirculating air door actuator and disconnect the blower lead wires.
  8. Remove two screws at the top of the blower housing, five screws from around the housing and remove the blower housing from the unit.
  9. Remove three screw attaching the blower to the unit and remove the blower from the vehicle.
  10. Remove the fan from the blower motor.
  11. Installation is the reverse of removal. Secure all components accordingly and check the blower motor for proper operation.
Pick-Up and Ramcharger
  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.

  3. Remove the blower motor cooling tube. Fig. 3: Disconnect the wiring and cooling tube to access the blower motor - 1994-96 models shown 88476g06.gif

  4. Remove the screws or retaining nuts retaining the blower plate to the housing. Fig. 4: Unplug the wiring harness connector tWhere is the blower motor - 88476p14.jpg motor 88476p14.jpg

should be just above the blower motor. You will need to remove the glove box door to gain access.

Put new blower motor and resistor in my 91 dakota and it keeps melting heater fuse. how do i fix

recheck the installation and look for a dead short in the wiring that you connected up. Possible have the power wire going directly to earth

Heater blower motor not working for dodge dakota 2004 4x4 4.7 quad cab

try picking up a blower motor resistor, about 10-20 dollars at a local part store. then check this blog out. I have replaced 4 in my 2004 dakota, Takes about 10 minutes to replace, located on passanger side of truck above floor. WORTH READING AND HAS PICS !

Hi ya, i just inquired about my blower motor, is the relay and switches and everything under the dash or under the hood,

In the Dodge Dakota the blower motor resistor is located under the hood, on the right side firewall.

Dodge Dakota with a complaint of no blower operation. After unplugging the harness connector and removing the two screws, you could remove and examine the resistor coils for damage. The heat and subsequent rust damage are clearly visible in the picture below.

My dodge dakota blower moter only runs on high all other setting don't work. whar could it be? And if it is the resister where is it located?

the high blower relay controls the high blower only
you need a new blower motor switch you control on the dash

2003 Dodge Dakota heater blower just quit working, what could be the cause??

It could be the blower motor resistor module.It is located on the passengers side next to the blower motor.Make sure the connections are not melted.Because if they are you will have to replace them also.Hoope this helps.Good luck.

Got a 91 dodge dakota with a/c when i turn the fan to high the ignition switch gets real hot , lower the fan speed and it cools down , so i replaced the blower motor with new one but its still acting the...

Sounds like a short in the wiring going to your blower motor. Using a volt meter pull the plug off of your motor and check the hot wire to ground. Should have no continuity.

Fan switch works on only one speed

  1. Disconnect and isolate the battery negative cable.
  2. From the passenger foot well area, remove the two hex screws used to secure the blower motor resistor.
  3. Unplug the front blower motor resistor from the wire harness connector.
  4. Pull the front blower motor resistor and its wire harness out of the plenum panel and through the cowl plenum access hole far enough to access the wire harness connector.
  5. Remove the front blower motor resistor from the cowl plenum.
  1. Plug the blower motor resistor into the wire harness connector.
  2. Install the blower motor resistor to the cowl plenum panel by feeding the resistor and wire harness back through the cowl plenum access hole.
  3. Install and tighten the two screws that secure the resistor to the HVAC unit Tighten the screws to 2.2 Nm (20 in. lbs.) .
  4. Connect the battery negative cable
