You will need a torch kit, as you will have to cut off the old muffler and weld on the new one.

doesn't really matter. if it is bolted or welded as you can cut the old muffler out and get adaptor sleeves that go over the pipes and are clamped on with the muffler clamps.

Replace muffler on 1996 cutlass supreme

Not really.
You have to cut the old muffler off and reconnect the new one, either by pipe connectors or by welding it.

I have a 1997 chev cavalier, and as I was driving I heard a dragging noise, I looked under my car and the tube from the exhaust that connects to the muffler is off, what will i need to fix this, my brother...

Take your car to a muffler shop and ask them if it's possible to reweld the exhaust pipe to the muffler. If the exhaust has rusted too thin, they wont be able to weld it safely, at that point you will have to replace the entire system unfortunately. Exhaust systems comes in sections, so ask them if its possible for them to replace the exhaust from the catalytic converter back only. It should be cheaper if they can do that. Good luck!

Need a new catalytic converter but i dont know were the old one is?

look under truck when cool and from engine follow exhaust pipe towards back will see what looks like a small muffler [ usually about 2 to 3 feet away from engine and before the muffler] thats ur cat conv if ur doing it yourself make sure before going near cat that truck hasnt been running and is cool cat can cause extreme burns up to 1/2 hour after truck has been turned off-also some are bolted in others are welded if welded in measure before cutting old out sometimes may have get an adapter length and extra clamps

When running metalic vibrating sound from muffler

Hi there
Just take it into the exhaust people and tell them that you need a new muffler ONLY. welded into the place of old one as all your problem is the BAFFEL plates have come loose and the welding is only spot welded and isent any good So a new muffler is ALL YOU WANT

How do i replace the muffler in a 1991 jeep cherokee?

Is the muffler welded or clamped? If welded, Taking it to a muffler shop would assure a good job. Welding a muffler in place is a trade andneeds special wquipment and skills. If it is clamped, Removing the clamps and peripherals is not the issue. Removing the muffler and properly fitting the a new muffler can be not only frustrating and difficult but time consuming as well. You have to buy the muffler in either case so you need to weigh your time against the labor charges. It's like dismounting a semi truck tire. Even the tire guy fights it, but in half the time.. I've done two in 40 yrs and would sit and wait for a tire man all week before I would mess with it. Mufflers are much different. Good Luck _Ned_

Muffler is loud and rattles due to debris and possible hole

either live with it or get out a saw and cut it out and weld in a new exhaust muffler. or you might get the measurements and get one to fit where you cut out the old one from your parts store.. make sure you measure your pipe and get a muffler that will fit over the pipe .. You will need clamps for the muffler also.. thanks and holler if you need more Jerry

Exhaust replacement & Rear Brakes

I can't see a problem with the converter, but if your in one of the states that does emissions testing it might be a problem as it most likely would leak where its clamped. The best thing to do is get it all on and try to find someone to weld it for you. As far as axel seals, if there bolt in axels unbolt pull out and use the end of the axel to pop out the old seal, and just tap the new seal in carefuly. seals around $ 10.00. Break kleen will clean up break shoes and drumb. Need more help just ask.
