So your cooling fan isn't coming on???? Thats either a fuse or your relay.

Engine Cooling problem 2000 Jeep Cherokee 4 cyl

Although the 4 cylinder is too underpowered to have air conditioning in my opinion, it still shouldn't overheat within 10 minutes unless something is wrong. If your Jeep doesn' not overheat when you are driving WITHOUT AC on then your compressor might have a problem and causing the engine to work too hard to turn it.

But if it overheats without the AC on, then the first thing you need to do is check the cooling fan and see if it operates! There has been a lot of problems with the cooling fan relay on this model. If that isn't it, then move to changing the thermostat and checking the water pump.

2002 focus overheats very quickly (within 2 blocks). changed fan motor relay, thermostat, flushed coolling system and this still happens, although now a little longer till it overheats (6 blocks).. Ran...

Sounds to me like the impeller in the water pump is corroded bad enough that you now have no volume of water flow.If a pressure test on the cooling system shows no leaks and the rad fan does in fact run then this is the most likely solution,if the fan does not run you may need a temperature switch or a fan motor.

hi, please check your radiator stat, you may have another on the head wich may be connected to the E C U. if you feel down the side of the rad. should find two connections into a small unit screwed into the rad. these sometimes burn out. to test if rad. stat is open circuit ( link the two terminals together this is only a temperature switch) i hope this infor. usefull gerry

1991 honda civic, overheats, changed therostat, stiil overheats....the fan doesnt go on? already checked fuses.they are ok, do u think its realy switch for fan or just a bad fan motor...how do i find...

You should be able to test the fan motor for continuity with an ohm meter! No meter available? You can use 2 jumper wires to test the motor for a test run[be careful]. Hook up the motor straight to the battery with the connection un-plugged!See if it will run!

My scerity sys went off and I my car over heats I think it needs a new thermastat

maybe your security system monitors engine temp ... it doesnt have to be the thermastat thats bad .. it could be the radiator fan switch or relay bad .. you can tell which by the following.
1. if it overheats only when idling or in heavy traffic but does not overheat while on the road (moving) then your problem is more likely the radiator fan switch, relay or fan motor ..
2. if your car overheats all the time even while driving then it could be the thermostat ..

check belts, coolent level and radiator clogging ..

1994 Toyota 4Runner Overheating

I had the same problem - my 95 4Runner would overheat in 4WD only, and coolant would bubble out and spill over.

The problem turned out to be with the rear heater tubes and the fan clutch - my mechanic bypassed the rear heater tubes and I have no more problems. Not exactly sure why this helped. To replace the rear heater tubes, it would've cost $325, but to bypass cost $75. Most people don't even really use the heat in the back seat.

The second part of the problem, and most important, was the fan clutch needed to be replaced. At low speeds, it wasn't kicking in when it should have been, only working at higher speeds. Once I replaced the fan clutch and the bypassed the rear heater tubes, all has been well.

Hope this helps!!
