Question about 1989 Chevrolet Camaro

I bought this car knowing I would need to get a new radiator. Everything else was good. I got a U-Pull used radiator and i blew about a month later. So I got brand new lifetime warranty from RadiatorBarn.com. I installed everything, not knowing I had crossthreaded the tranny cooler line. The tranny burned in about 2 days and it sat about two years. I had replaced all ignition electronics; pickup coil, ignition coil, ignition control module(2x), rotor(2x), cap(2x), plug wires(2x), and plugs. In February, we pulled a tranny out of a Trans Am. It is the same 4spd 700r4 that came in the camaros. Only difference is cable driven and electric vehicle speed sensors. Camaro is cable, Trans Am tranny is electric. I found part, only $8. Currently it won't start and I don't know why. I had replaced the ICM and it died on the highway. Replaced ICM again and it started right up. Drove about 5 miles, died again, and now nothing. No spark. I think either the engine computer(ECM) or distributor is bad. Brand New Parts(not listed above): Catalytic Converter Fuel Pump Oxygen Sensor Other Possible Bads: Sometimes dies if I stop too quickly, I think it might be EGR. ??Stud broken from exhaust manifold??

Man it sounds like you a pretty experianced wrench!
I have solved some of thes electrical gremlins with putting good ground cables fron the engine to the chassis. The electronics get happier with a solid ground

If you are having to recharge it then you have a leak. You need to charge it with a uv dye and then after it leaks out with a special light and glasses the leak can be seen.

I doubt it as it was sold "as is" meaning that you accept responsibility for everything that is wrong with it. Having said that and not seeing the paper work needed for the transaction and what the seller told you there may be a case of misrepresentation because of what the seller said or inferred. Find a sharp legal council and discuss aspects of a possible claim

The heat has went out and the engine is overheating,it blew the radiator hose off when it happened.


Sounds like you have a bad head gasket, Some simple tests at a repair shop can verify this.

No use putting any money into this until you verify the integraty of the engine

Oil in overflow of radiator.


If you have coolant mixed in you oil you have blown a head gasket at the very least. You will have to pull the heads and replace the gasket.

I have purchased a thermostat, water pump, and radiator. Then after all this a hose blew off, then eventually the radiator had holes in it. I took it back to where I bought the radiator and they replaced...


Sounds like bull sh*t to me. the only thing to look for is constant air bubbles when the engine is hot and the radiator cap is left off
(this would mean you had a leaking head gasket. If there was to much pressure the the radiator cap would leak steam before anything else blows. Are these secondhand radiators your trying? as they sound like rubbish if the hose blew it's most likely from a blocked secondhand radiator which needs to be repaired. Don't trust dodgy car wreckers. cheers

Most Ford 6.0l engines are junk, they were poorly designed from the beginning. I would stop going to that dealer and find one that knows powerstrokes. Most dealers like to just change out parts until they find the problem (especially with diesels).
I have seen the dealers change HPOP pumps, injectors and harnesses and cylinder heads to try and solve the problem you are having. The last one I saw the dealer screw up, they did all the above mentioned, charged $6500 and it still didn't work. They then said it needed a new engine and it would be $14,000.
Cut your losses and dump the truck. If you can afford it, sell that truck and buy an 02-03 with the 7.3 diesel. That is one of the best trucks ford ever made.

it possable you need new cable i dont know your car.
The battery cable can make so you car will not get the power need to start or turn on lights.
