Question about 1991 Ford F150

There is what looks like a grease nodule on the rear tires of my '91 Ford F-150 is that for greasing the wheels or for bleeding the brakes?

It is a brake bleeder the only thing on a ford in the rear that I can think of is grease fittings on the driveline but only some years.

Grease in rear wheel hub


The rear brake cylinders are located inside the hub with the brake shoes on drum brakes...(common in 2004 Rangers on rear only) The brake cylinders are a "wear item" with seals...we used to rebuild the cylinder with new seals...best today to buy new brake cylinders to replace the leakey ones...You will need to bleed all 4 brake line/wheel connections after the replacement. Hope this helps.

All of a sudden i have spongy brakes on my 92 f 250. changed master cyl and booster. and rubber brake hoses. still spongy and nothing is leaking.brakes went from being good to spongy in one...


Check the rear wheel cylinders? Was anything leaking at the master cylinder? Does it have ABS?
Check the front caliper slides are free. Check the front caliper pistons for leaks as well. This is all assuming you bled the brakes(all 4 wheels) properly after all that replacement! You're getting air from somewhere for sure or if it has ABS, the pump may have a problem.

Back Tire on 1997 Nissan Quest xe is smoking from rear tire and smells like rubber burning.


Sounds like you have a brake or wheel bearing seized on that vehicle, best to let it completely cool off before attempting anything.
jack rear tire and support with jack stand, try turning the tire by hand once its off the ground, if it turns or doesn't turn either way you must pull the wheel and determine what the cause is or was for all that smoke and smell.
Pull the brake drum and check the wheel cylinder for leaks and if it is frozen holding the rear brake locked on that side if it is replace the brakes both rears and wheel cylinders both rears and the appropriate brake drums if they are worn out and heat cracked.
If the brakes appear to be hanging due to the emergency brake hanging up, spray the emergency cables, try to adjust the cables after you replace the brakes, bleed and adjust the system and walla you are safe and sound.
If you have a frozen wheel bearing you must remove the frozen bearing off the rear spindle stub shaft, either bty heat or impact chisel, check spindle for signs of wear if ok just lightly sand with 180 wet/dry paper, pull out the bearing and punch out the inner outer races along with the inner grease seal and replace all five items, repack the bearings and hub with a high temp resistant wheel bearing grease, re install the brake drum re install the hub nut and cotter pin to a proper torque and walla... The brake on that wheel is seized and the friction has seriously heated everything, to the point of setting the brake pads on fire.The heat was so serious that the grease from the bearings has melted and probably caught fire. Your safety is at risk here. The damage to that wheel assembly is clearly extensive and must be fixed immediately.

The brake cylinder in the rear drum of a 93 ford ranger broke, how do i replace it


Remove wheel, brake drum, and brake shoes. The cylinder is the part the brake line goes into and it spreads the brake shoes apart when you brake.

Loosen the brake line but do not take off, unbolt the cylinder and then disconnect brake line. loosely connect the brake line to the new cylinder so you do not loose much brake fluid, bolt new cylinder in and then tighten the brake line.
Reinstall shoes. There should be a bleeding screw/grease head in the brake cylinder, loosen this and have someone step on the brake to bleed the line, have them hold the brake while you tighten the bleed screw. Do this as many times as necessary until brake fluid only with no air comes out.
Reinstall drum and tire, top off brake fluid.

How do you adjust brakes on a 91 ford aerostar 3.0 automatic 6 cylinders.


there is no adjusting brakes you can bleed them ,your best course of action is to take a tire off at a time and check your shoes or pads if your pads are good then you need to bleed your brake starting with the lright rear then left rear then right front then left .

How do you get to the front wheel bearings on a 1999 toyota tacoma so that i can grease them?


For the most part it is very similar to doing a brake job, you will need to gain access to disc area. once you have removed the caliper you will need to remove the dust cap, this will allow you to remove the nut that secures the disc to the spindle. after you access to the front bearing, remove and set aside, put washer and nut back on, slide rotor out tapping it to remove rear bearing, remove nut/washer and hand pack with wheel bearing grease. re assemble, check and bleed brakes if necessary, Good Luck!

1993 Ford F-150 drum brake problem


It appears the rear axle shaft seal is leaking. You will need to pull the axle and replace the seal. Then check the rear end for adequate gear oil. The iron filings I am not to sure about. It sounds as if something came loose from the brakes or brake hardware and got chewed up in the drum. You will need to replace the brake shoes and maybe the brake hardware kit. Always change the shoes or pads on both sides when working on brakes, rear or front. If the inside of the drum is not perfectly smooth it will need to be turned or replaced. If this were brake fluid leaking from the wheel cylinder the master cylinder would be low on fluid and your brake pedal would go down much further than normal.

Repair service brakes


What do you mean lub'm? You just put brake grease where ever there is friction. Not on the brake shoes or pads, not on the brake drum! I'm assuming you have brake drums on the rear. Just put grease where ever there is metal on metal so the brakes move freely. Keep the grease off the brakes and drum, you can put some grease on the brackets or metal on the brakes but not on the stopping surface of the brake.
