99 ford ranger changed plugs and wires now running rough check engine light came on

OBD code would be tremendously helpful. It should even tell you which cylinder is not working properly. Could be a bad plug, plug gap, or bad wire. Like I said the code should be able to narrow down the search for the problem. My guess would be a misfire code with a cylinder #.

Engine running really rough...whine sound when it isn't.

The run rough problem is due a cyl.mis firing,it becaused buy a bad plug, plug wire, coil,or even the ing.module. the servive eng.light flashing is warning you that you have a cyl.misfire that can cause damaget to your catltic converter if you continue to drive it.with may lead to why you think you have a exhaust problem,it may be colgged.

2000 F-250 7.3 diesel, cuts out runs rough no power

Well, you have to let diesels warm up before you drive them so the engine gets warm and it may not sound right at first because if its not warm the compression gets off and doesnt fire right. If you try to give it too much gas before its warm, extra diesel will get in the cylinders and misfire. Then when it does fire, there is a lot of extra fuel in it so that causes the smoke and smell. You should always let it warm up for a bit before driving when you havent driven it for a while.

Could be the TPI Sensor or it might be a touch out of timing.
