Question about 1992 Ford F250

2 Answers

This truck has always been hard-starting, but now has developed a significant hesitation every time the accel pedal is pushed at any speed or torque range. Cleaned air filter, changed cap & rotor, changed oil, added injector cleaner and 92 octane fuel. Is there only one fuel filter on a dual tank XLT and could it be that?

Thanks, but this didn't solve the problem. If it weren't fuel injected I would suspect the vacuum advance based on my symptoms. I'm not familiar with how the spark is advanced here. I've eliminated air so it's fuel or spark.

if when you push the brake peddle and it is hard at first then starts to fade towards the floor and you have no visible fluid leaks or noticeable fluid loss then your master cylinder is bypassing internally and needs replaced

Possibly the EGR valve or TPS sensor if you have CEL codes. Check fuel pressure and if low change fuel filter if it is still low replace the fuel pump I beleive it is suppossed to be 41 to 47 psi. Pretty easy to replace fuel filter the Buick Century has a cover you remove in the trunk to access the fuel pump making the change very easy, if you can fit in the cramped space of the trunk.

most likely its your fuel pump. when the rpm's start to drop just give the gas pedal a few pumps and you should be good.
