Question about 2001 Ford Escort ZX2
OK, assuming the engine mounts are good, the engine may have a miss in it which can be diagnosed by scanning the engine computer which should have an OBD-II connector on it.
(All 1996 and above vehicles have this feature).
One can have this done for free at Autozone or Advance Auto Parts or you could buy your own OBD-II Scanner from Sears or Walmart for under $100 that can do this.
If you don't find any codes, there could be internal damage to the engine which isn't bad enough to cause a code to be tripped in the computer.
