Question about 1996 Jaguar Xj Series
This could be either the ignition system or the fuel system at fault here, so you need to check for spark at the spark plugs and check for fuel at the fuel rail.

Hi! This can be caused by a faulty TPS (throttle position sensor). If the TPS is faulty the car may not start, only cranks. Try to run a scan tool too for specific fault codes. Hope this helps and thank you for using FixYa!
