Sometimes it takes a few on/off cycles for things to reset.
You could unhook your battery for about a half hour then reconnect. This should help your computer forget the problem.

Gas cap indicaytor light came on. Changed cap and made sure it was tight but indicator light still comes on

The gas cap light is a generic light that indicates an emission problem. Usually a vacuum/pressure leak within the system. The gas cap is usually the first thing to check, however may not be the problem. There are numerous sensors and lines that control the vacuum/pressure/ of the fuel vapors and one of these is loose/disconnected/defective causing this light to come on. I would recommend inspecting hoses under the hood for any that may be loose/disconnected. You may also require a scan test to view sensor data to isolate the source of the light

My linclon nagivator engine light keeps coming on, i can discount the battery an after three days light comes on again.

Disconnecting the battery is not fixing the problem. It is only clearing the error from the computer. After 3 days the problem pops up again and BOOM light is on. Go to Checker or Autozone and have the code diagnosed. It may be as simple as tightening the fuel cap

I have mazda tribute 2006. I put fuel cap on incorrectly..check fuel cap light came on. I put cap on correctly and light stayed on. Disconnected battery. Went of for few days and came back on. Along with...

The old days of disconnecting the battery to make the light go out are long gone, It must be reset with a scan tool so try this go to advance auto and have them put it on a scan tool to find out what the codes are then have them clear the codes. If the light comes back on after that you may have to replace the fuel cap. I hope this helps you.

99 lexus es 300 chk engine and trac lock lite on

I had check engine light and TRAC OFF. OBD-II MIL code was P1133 which is Air Fuel Ratio Sensor Response Malfunction and scanned by AutoZone. After disconnecting the battery for 10-15 minutes, the lights went off. I cleaned the gas cap and tightened it firmly. For the last 400 miles, the lights have not come back. When scanning using Snap-on one, no code was detected. I think gas cap was the reason for the lights.
