Check the ignition system for spark at the plugs. I had a similar problem a few years back with mine. Engine died while I was driving along on the interstate. Turned out that the spring pin holding the bevel gear to the bottom of the didtributor shaft had broken in three pieces. Installed a new pin, installed the distributor with the #1 cylinder at TDC, and it fired right up.

1993 mecury wont start

The electronics inside the Mercury Villager are slightly primitive, however there should be a third wire connected to the original fuel pump, and it must be taken off and put onto the new fuel pump, this becomes a ground wire.

1993 mercury village engine was running was driving down road it shut down, check engine light was on , friend said to change fuel pump and still no spark at engine plugs, what should i try next? is there...

Fuel pumps don't have anything to do with spark. Have the codes read. My guess you lost the crank sensor, ignition module, or coil. Check your fuses also.

Check the battery first. Or try jumping it. Battery may not have enough juice to turn the motor.
