HAVE YOU TRIED TO USE SOME SILICONE SPRAY ON THE NUT? MAYBE YOU CAN CUT THE NUT OFF WITH A DREMEL AND A VERY SMALL DIAMOND BIT WITHOUT CUTTING THE DASH. HOPE THIS HELPS. LET ME KNOW. GOOD LUCK

it is better to buy a new ignition barrel.it takes a special socket to get the screws out, once the screws are out they do not need to be replaced.buy new barrel, disconnect negative battery cable, disconnect wires from barrel assembly, remove barrel from colum. first take vin# to dealership parts department to get correct barrel assembly, the keys with new assembly will fit doors and trunk

you can access the ignition switch from underneath the dash, but it is easier to remove the steering wheel, then the instrument cluster. There are two basic elements to the ignition switch. The part that usually breaks down first is the front section, where the key goes into. You have to remove the entire unit from its bracket. Unplug the wire loom from the back of the housing. I believe there are two screws holding both sections together. Remove the screws and replace the unit. Then re-assemble.

SOURCE: HOW DO I REMOVE IGNITION
Remove plastic shroud from column. Looking straight on at the lock, you will find a small hole about 3mm diameter on the housing close to where it bolts on...about the 1 o,clock position. Insert key, turn to position 1, and at the same time insert a small drill bit ( or something similar) into the hole and press downward to release the spring latch ( you will feel the catch move down slightly when a little pressure is applied and the key is in the correct position) at the same time use the key to pull the lock outward.
